It is about time for me to build-up my motor and I'm looking for some suggestions becaue I have read on many forums that the 3V is loosing rods just above 400rwhp. I have an '05 Vortech Supercharged Saleen that we are putting down 558 rwhp on a stock motor. So, can anyone suggest some good forged internal components to go with (i.e crank, rods, pistons). I am also considering bumping the displacement-up, though, I'm not sure how much; any suggestions?
damn thats a lot of hp on a stock engine. i didnt think you could actually run it with that much hp. but that shows you how much i know. i have a feeling KJ might have a lot of input. i mean its not like he only has like 1-2 warranty parts left on his car or anything .
Hey, most electrics are still stock and should be under warranty...
I built another 281 in a S197 alu block. 'Cobra' steel crank, manley H-beam rods, manley dished pistons (for mid to high 8:1 comperssion) and ARP hardware. I also have built P&P heads with Ferrea Inconel internals.
Conntact Ron at Fox Lake for your build, he allready have a few S197s under his belt and they all are doing great.... as everything else he have built in pre S197 cars...

Inconel internals, that had to get expensive but definitely worth the money.

Inconel is a special steel, it is strenghtened with heat and pressure, makes it much stronger, think the same size spring is more than twice as strong both ib spring strenght and longlivity.
I have Ferreas pieces in my heads, valves and springs run close to $1,500...

Thanks! I hope to build my own motor someday. (Probably after the s/c and a blown motor) Information like this is obviously critical to "doin it right".

Me too was planing on doing it that way.... then the pieces and the builder all lined up so here I am... didn't want to wonder when she will blow either... plus my blower takes oil from the car so I might have grenaded that at the same time...??

Oh Inconel is WAY more than just a strenghtening treatment. It's a different alloy all together. It has a higher nickel and cobalt content to make it much harder than generic stainless steel. It's used extensively in my line of work. It's a bit more brittle at temps below 200F or so, but that doesn't even come into play for valves that see 800+F temps.
