Recent problem with the car going dead (no electrical power) one second and then all of a sudden...it will come back "on line" and electrical power is back. This is when the car is off...for example when I am getting in the car, returning to the car after it has been parked, or right after I shut the car off.
It is not a dead battery...it is something with a connection somewhere. Sometimes it is for a split second. Sometimes it is longer. I got the oil changed today and it started right up for the pressure check. After being off for 2-3 minutes...the car wouldn't start/dead. I got out of the car, was walking up to the hood and it came back alive. After it happens you can hear the Shaker moving to the 1st CD...and the radio always goes to AM 590 (the presets are still stored in memory though).
I also wonder if this is happening when the car is off...could it do it for a split second when the car is running? If it does this while moving it is imperceivable. UNLESS, my recent failsafe mode problems are being caused by this electrical "gremlin".
Sorry for the rambling...Any one else with this problem or suggestions?
It is not a weather issue either...the car very rarely sees any moisture and is garaged.

Check your battery cables. Sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere. Look for corrosion on both ends of the cables. Check to make sure hte bolted connections are tight.
I hate electrical issues......bleh.....but if you have patience and are willing to chase it you will find it. Got a digital multi meter? Get one! It does not have to be a super expensive unit....radio shack used to carry a reasonably inexpensive one that worked well. That will help....
If you find anything let me know. Both of mine do it and have been since the first month of ownership but usually after they have been parked for five or more days. The dealer has been through both cars at least twice.

As I was pulling out of my driveway the other day a field mouse jumped up on top of my hood. I started doing the slalom down my street to get her off but she dropped down out of sight near the cowl. I activated the windshield wipers and she popped back up on the hood. Then she crawled over the curve of the hood and I never saw her again.
I hope to hell that the little rodent wasn't chewing on any wires. My car is super clean...hardly sees rain, garaged, and sometimes sits for 2 weeks at a time. Might have been enough time for her to find her new home.
Traps are set!

My 06 GT did this just the other day. After sitting for about three weeks went out to start it up to run the fluids through her and nothing. I mean deader that a door nail. Got my meter out to check the batter and low and behold 12 volts. I hooked my charger up and as soon as I made the connections she came back to life. I work on electrical issues on aircraft and past experience points to a module or a distribution box that has a cut off of some sort or a power relay that is bad. Went by the dealer and told them what happened and he pulled up some schematics. From the ones he was able to let me have a copy of I think there may be a problem in the BEC or Bussed Electrical Center. It looks as if all power from the battery is routed through this module, but with out a detail diagram of this I can't be positive. I'm trading her in next week for a CS/GT but am going to pass on my thoughts in any case. Maybe this will give a starting point for the rest of you to have your dealers service department to start at.

I had something simular happen too me.. The car at one moment would start the next time it wouldn't.. The only way I found to start it when this happened was to remote start it!!!!! There was a relay or something under the dash thatt was bad(check into that).. I have the active alarm system..

LOL!!! That's so funny. A cow-orker brought in her Chevelle and our shop was immediately infested with chipmunk babies. Four or five of them.
Mice can screw up your wiring and stuff but that one was probably just doing what dogs do.
Looks up "I'M THE FASTEST MOUSE IN THE WORLD!!!!"
Either that or now the other mice are like "Ok, Cletus is in the club." Ever read Dune? You are the sand worm.
The only thing worse than electrical Gremlins are electrical Pacers and electrical Javelins. Don't get me started.
I had this same type of problem recently and it was in for the second time this week. The dealer replaced the PCM, said it was not always comunicating with main computer. Car running, computer says no key in car!?! Its been 2 days now all is well....so far.

I rather like the 1972 mark donohue javelins...
Either way; in my '67 i had a similar issue, my car would die after driving it, and i wouldn't be able to start it, walk away for a minute or two come back and it would start no problem. It ended up being my alternator/regulator...
But i don't know if this would apply to the newer mustangs.
First off , as per a Ford tech, and some home work to verify this info, all of the newer cars built these days will drain their own battery within a month or so of not being ran due to memory drain for the main computers and security systems.
They also will not take a jump start if the battery voltage is to low , that is a fail safe so the ECU doesn't get harmed by going from low voltage suddenly jump to higher voltage.
The problem you may have is a loose or bad connection on your main ground ,what I have found to fix this is remove the grounds to the frame and block sand them and the cable connector down to bare metal and reapply the cable then when tight, spray them with some paint to shield against corrosion.Especially all of you the have salted roads in the winter.
