Default Moser 31-Spline Axles?

What are the benefits of installing these? Does it help beef up the rear-end when you have added significant torque and HP to the car?

Yes thats the idea, stock axles can snap on high HP applications and also when using slicks.

A guy on my drag team snapped his axle last weekend (S/C'd 2003 Cobra). He was very pleased to find out it was his axle because of all the things that can snap it was the cheapest and easiest to fix.

When you install one do you have to remove the entire rear axle from the car?

Your car has two axles, a left and right. So yes, you would have to remove the rears, you have to pull of the differential cover, remove the c-clip and pinion then they slide right out.

All depends..I watched a friend snap a set of stock ones with drag radials..all depends on the tires and launch. Axles are relatively cheap to buy an dinstall..for what it is worth. I just pulled mine last nigh to replace two broken studs..2 hours at most.

We already have 31 spline axles in our cars.

that was my next question thump rr....we cant put 31s in say ...a 28 spline carrier. but are the Moser axles stronger somewhere alone the line other than having 31 splines? the guys that break the stock axles must be breakin them out next to the rotors????

31 spline axles are more than enough for our cars. Of course anything can break but if I were to upgrade I'd have the axle tubes welded up and the complete rear upgraded at once.

I have a mechanic friend who was running into the nines on 28 splines up until recently.

What is the benefit of changing out the stock differential with a Detroit Truetrac ? Also how much is installation for the Moser 31 spline axles?

Well.... the 31s are good and dandy but as with everything else stock they're mass produced with minimal quality checks... I'm sure most AM ones have better materials, balance, etc... also the AM diffs are probably of superior materials, design, and quality...??

Shoot me down if I'm wrong because I don't reall know what I'm talking about... just speculating...

I think I'll be fine unless I put slicks on or start to drag every weekend...?? But I have said that the tranny and rear end hold up as long as they do then I'll upgrade...

I broke my rear 31-spline axle on my 05"... I think It is due to too much stress.
If you axle hop over uneven road when you drive at full power too many time & the tire airborne.
I had been driving at a bumpy race track for a 20+ laps...then try to show a friend drag racing start and bug down finally break it.

When it break it also took out the rear brake disk & Caliper.
I spin around in 0.1 Sec...I didn't knowing my wheel flew off until the police carried my wheel in his hand to show me.

Wow... You really did it up right! I managed to replace mine before they had a chance to break.
