Anyone installed a remote start system in a 5 speed?
I want to add a remote start system to my car, so I can "pre-heat" before work. I was aondering if anyone here has done that to a 5 speed and if there are any write-up on the install.
Also, if anyone has specific experience with any brand or know one that will work with the factory alarm system, by all means, speak up and let me know.
I am looking at this kit http://www.autoalarmpro.com/inc/sdetail/1215?noc=true if Iwas to get this, I know I would need to cut a key and hide it close for the transponder, but is there anything else I need? Will it affect the factory alarm system?
That is what I found out, if it is a manual forget about it. From what I am told it is not the difficulty of the install it is the liability of the installer when doing a manual trans.

The one I linked to has a switch so the remote start will not work unless the parking brake is set and the car is in neutral
Local dealer had one come in that someone installed a remote start on. Didn't tell the dealer. Car was being detailed after it was worked on. Porter hit what he thought was the lock button, was the start button. And the car was in gear...
It bounced off the wall for about 2 minutes before they got it shut off.

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I miss my remote start thats for sure. had it on my previous car for 8 years. Cars in the garage in the winter months, and I pull it inside work usually an hour before I leave so its never too bad. plus the ride to work is 2 minutes.
Still an awesome feature that I had to live without when getting the stick.
No one will want to install a remote start for a 5 speed because of the faact you have to bypass the clutch and other things its dangerous and illegal i believe cause if for some reason your e-brake was off and your in neutral its goin to roll and for many many more things but trust me that would be sweet a few of my friends have them for there autos cobra is a good brand

Too early to know exactly what the problem is but for some reason the starter and security transmitters were not operating correctly and my Stang went into protect mode and Would Not Start!! Somebody's got some splain'in to do. I'll let you know what's up. If anyone has had a similar problem please inform.

My friend installed an auto start in his manual. it wasn't a mustang but it still was a manual. It was left in gear by his friend, and it rolled, all the way, way down the hill. And smacked into a dumpster and completely totaled itself. I wonder if that is why people do not install auto starts in manuals?

The one I am looking at, actually bought, will not start unless the transmission is in neutral, the parking brake set, you turn the ignition off, on, off and lock the doors within 30 seconds. Pretty safe to say the car will not be rolling into anything if everythign works right

SharpTJ, Nice find! I am very interested to find out how you like it. Please keep us posted once you receive and install it. Based on the description, it is an alarm too, so I imagine you will need to disable the factory alarm. Do you have the active alarm upgrade? Are you going to install this yourself?
