Ok here’s my install on mod number 1 the cold air intake.
The 1st thing I did was let the car cool down (pics 1 & 2) once the car cooled down, I removed the air box (pic 3& 4) then I removed the air tube from the throttle body (pic 5)
1.2.3.4.5.
After removing I discarded the air filter and air box (pic 6) now you will need to remove the MAF (mass air flow sensor)(pic 7) cause you’ll need to put it on the new CAI (be sure to be careful removing the sensor because it may be stuck in place)
6.7.
Now install the MAF on the new housing(pic 8) pay attention to what type of screws were holding the sensor in place(some are machine screws and others are self taping screws) Pic 9 shows the MAF installed.
8.9.
Now install the CAI body to the throttle body. Note; installation was a little difficult to get on because the silicone gasket was very tight (pic 10)
10.
Now I installed the MAF assembly to the CAI (pic 11) then installed the heat shield (pic 12) then remove the first bolt on the valve cover (pic 13) (this is where the bracket for the CAI lines up to.
11.12.13.
Mounting the CAI bracket was a little difficult because there are 2 bolts under the MAF housing that were hard to get a wrench to tighten up, don’t forget to hook up the PCV (pic 14) now tighten everything down (pic 15)
14.15.
Now mount the air filter to the CAI, don’t forget to remove the wrapper from the filter (pic 16) before you install it.lol . Now make sure that you plugged the MAF back to the harness and make sure all your clamps are tightened to about 15 lbs
16.
Now I am done and the car is ready for the new tune! (pic 17)
17.
Please note; I don’t recommend that you start your car with your new CAI until you load your new tune. (Motor may run lean without new tune)
Stay TUNED for loading of the custume tune with the SCT2 programer and the header istall

What are the chances of water getting into the CAI when it rains hard or running onto deep puddles?
Very minimal. Fenderwell intakes sometimes have this problem but open cones in the engine bay rarely do. Unless you run through 3 feet of water, you should be ok!
He'll have several pages of pics on the header install if the details are like the CAI nicely done dude!!!!!! lookin good!

Yup, trust me with the tune its the biggest difference! I some how didnt get the tune to go in at first and drove about a mile not feeling a difference at all. Then i tried again....and it was amazing.

Nice writeup. Woulda been useful when I was doing mine. I saw on the C&L website that it is possible to use the intake without a tune. I don't know if you need some other equipment, but you don't get as much power out of the intake.

How come it didn't go in at first? How did you know?

Absolutely... Only a few CAIs claim to be no tune required, including a version of the C&L with an airtube insert. Most CAIs will cause the car to run lean and performance will suffer without the appropriate tune.

I let my dads friend do it...and when i first drove it my dad was with me. I just lied saying it was a big difference b/c he would have had a long talk to me saying how he told me not to get it in the first place. But when i got home i snuck out and tried it again and when i test drove it the car was soo much faster to respond and everything.
But in the instructions it says to take out the fuel pump and electric fan fuses. Do you have to do this? b/c i didnt and it worked lol

Jeezus... what's with your dad? Isn't this the same guy who thought putting a CDC Classic chin spoiler on was "too hard"? It doesn't get much easier than a CAI/Tune and a Classic chin spoiler. Why do I have a feeling this guy wouldn't even consider a DIY oil change. And a flat tire would require a tow truck... hahaha. Tell him to do some reading on the forums... the rest of us "old" guys will have to educate him some.
p.s. I just thought of something. When I was 18, my dad thought I was crazy for "souping" up my car. But, after a couple months, he ended up going to the track and enjoying it. Here is a pic from 1977... I'm in the driver's seat, and he's the guy with the beard behind the car.

I had a serious motorcycle accident in August 1977, and it ended up getting sold off piece by piece over the months I was laid up. Damn shame... that thing was sick.
