Just watched my shining Tungstung Gray Stang GT, with the 18" ASA chrome wheels, side window louvers, and classically dressed interior, hauled away on a flatbed truck from in front of a Safeway grocery store because she wouldn't start. It was a pitiful sight to behold. The culprit seems to be a conspiracy between the Remote Start system and the security system which went into lock-down mode as if to prevent theft or tampering. There is no power to the ignition, fog lights do not come on, remote start does not start the car and the key is useless. When the key is turned to the on position - nothing - no dash lighting, no radio, nothing. Turning the key to the start position produces a deafening silence. Tried to reprogram the keys and reset the remote start system - nothing. So off to the service bays she goes after being on the road for less than 60 days, and less than 2500 miles. I'm bummed. Anyone heard of or experience anything like this? I'll let you know what the deal is once she's diagnosed.

No power to lights?? Something's not right. You may have a battery grounding issue. Do you have underdrive pullies? Also, S197s are known to lose juice after sitting a week or so. Did you car sit for an extended period?
The battery is good - have strong headlights - no fog lights. Its definately not battery. Here's a sequence... Approaching the car, push the remote start keys - no start. Get in the car, insert key to start - no start. Open driver's side door - alarm sounds. (curse words said - foot stomp)

Also, Stang is stock. No pulleys, CAI. pipes etc. - yet.

That's a new one. How long has the remote start been in? Did you try disconnecting the battery for 30 mins?

The remote start went in before I drove it off the dealer lot. I was going to do a battery disconnect, but decided to make the dealer earn my business. Oh yeah - Ford's roadside service is the PITS!

Ok, here's the deal. They wired the remote start wrong!! They used the wrong hot wire and as a result, it drew to much amperage and 'pop' the ignition fuse fries. They couldn't understand why it hadn't happened before now. Yeah, likely story. In any case, she's rollin again and the remote start seems to be working. Of course they had no less than three stories ranging from needing a jump to a fried remote start module. The service manager finally came clean after they failed the quiz.
So now I'm waiting on the arrival of my JTL CAI and SCT tuner. Looking forward to some additional uummmppphh. If anyone can give me an idea of a smart mod that follows the CAI, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks to those who offered ideas.

Back in the saddle and feelin' fine.

Glad you got it fixed. Hopefully they've got it wired right this time... Pullies are good for a quick 10 rwhp recovery. Electric water pump about the same. If you've got money to burn, long tube headers and a new midpipe can get you 20-25 more. Cams are expensive (~$1500) but can net you 30-40 rwhp.
