So did you decide on the do-it-yourself install?

What do you guys think of Brenspeeds S/C set up he has on his 06 auto. He can also send a tune for it. He told me its as good as the saleen and much cheaper.

I talked to Brent about it a few weeks back. He really believes in that setup and he's installed quite a few with great success. I think he's got the tune pretty well refined for that setup.

Huh?? They can't do it via email?? I would think you could drive it temporarily with the JLT as long as you don't really stomp on it.

I'll have to ask Saleen about the JLT..I can hear it now..It will void our warranty.
I thought as well I could drive temporally with the JLT or at least try it.

I too am considering a S/C. Since the headers and exhaust system I want are going to cost me about $1800, I figure I might as well get a S/C instead for a couple grand more- makes perfect sense, right?

Anyway- I think I've decided on either a twin screw or a roots type at 5-6 psi intercooled. I really want to do a self-install, and I have not found a reputable tuner in my area (plenty of others, though). Are ther any kits that include a tune that is pretty much spot-on?

If I am running 5-6 psi, is there really any point installing a charge-cooler? I only want about 400 RWHP max, a little less is okay. I do not want to risk detonation, though.

It's a little confusing, because the kits ususally do not include charge coolers with 5-6 psi set-ups. Why?

I don't know why they don't come with charge coolers but I would go with a twinscrew.
Like I said in my earlier post all 3 of the major T/S blowers are perfectly safe. No whipples that we're aware of have blown motors or Saleens with the JDM setup even though 2 stock 4 psi saleens on saleen tunes have blown if I recall correctly.

There have been a couple of Kennebell failures also. 1 attributed to a failed cat which blocked an exhaust pipe and another one due to a failed heat exchanger which allowed the engine to ingest the intercooler coolant.

JDM is having a huge special right now I recommend either their 8psi or 10psi setup. I'm currently at 10psi on stock internals with over 100 1/4 mile runs and I have a 12 psi pulley on the way.

I wanted to purchase a kennebell but since there is nobody up here I would trust to tune the car I went with the Saleen and JDM for their stellar reputation.

Here is the link to the blower specials

Thump rrr- thanks for all the info! 8-10 psi, huh? I guess that always seemed like a lot of boost to me, but I have never run a S/C . I'll check out JDM.
