I'm with Thump on this one. I've honestly had absulutely zero problems with my JDM/Saleen setup at 10 psi boost. I feel that it is important to have the supporting mods (fuel system,injectors,90mm Lightning MAF) along with the bulletproof JDM tuning to help the stock longblock live a long and healthy life. My car is a daily driver that gets raced competitively as well. Jim D'Amore at JDM is widely known as one of the best Ford specialists in the country. I am seriously considering loading my car on my trailor and pulling it 17 hrs. to NJ to add a 12 psi pulley and let the man custom tune the car. He's that good. I think I can get a 10 second pass out of it and I need to do it before Thump_rrr beats me to it!

If I have JDM work on my car will that kiss my warranty good bye? My car runs fine for what I use it for but there is always room for improvment.

Pretty much.

Why do you say you have 475 rwhp in your sig? Did you dyno it? How much boost?

Since your asking about the warranty, I figure you have the stock Saleen blower with the 475 add-on package.

Just so you know, that's 475bhp not rwhp.

No I never did the dyno, I do not know the boost for sure I was told 5lbs but can not prove it. I do have the stock Saleen s/c the pcm was sent to Saleen, I than had the upgrade kit put on and the pcm was sent back to Saleen again for another what ever it is they do. This was done all at the same time I never drove the car with just the stock s/c. I did drive the car once before they put the s/c on it just so I could fell the difference. I personally spoke to Kreg at Saleen in California and he said it is 475 bhp just as you said. He also told me I was at the limit for horse power on stock 4.6 internanals. He tried to sell me an extreme ugrade for my motor which Saleen will guarantee at least 550 at the wheels. I told him to send me an estimate in writing and in the mean time I will get more life insurance. He was very determined to sell it he even offered to let my dealer do the engine work so the car stays near me instead of going to California. And that about sums it up. One more thing the Roush short throw shifter rattles at 2500rpm I am waiting to hear from the dealer on that.

hey some of you new guys here....... anybody know or seen a JLT CAI on the Saleen S/C? this is why I went with the Saleen over the Roush. I dont want to throw my JLT in the corner. just by lookin at the Saleen setup it should fit right up? I'd like to see the 90mm lightning MAF setup....

The JLT should fit with the Saleen blower but it will not mate up with thw 90mm LMAF.
Therefore JDM won't send you a tune for it. You could concievably use it in conjunction with a Mafia MAF extender and a custom tune. There could also be some hood clearance issues as well because the Saleen throttle body position is a little higher than stock.

I shouldnt have hood issues as I have the CD hood.
Im wondering if my JLT will fit around the altenator since it relocated the CAI in this pic is one of JDMs designes?

The intake tube is a C&L Racer and the air filter is a Steeda unit for the 05+ Stangs which bolts right up to the 90mm Lightning MAF. You know' come to think of it the owner of JLT PM'd me many months ago for some measurements from the alternator location and throttle body position. You could probably give them a call as I'm sure that's why he wanted the dimensions. Kev

Thank you very much! I have tweaked on it quite alot to get the suspension dialed in. I know what you mean about "we've all said that!" It's all I can do to not add a 12psi pulley,1 piece driveshft,k member, struts and 4.10 gears to take a stab at a 10 sec. time slip on the stock block! Who knows sounds like a good winter project to me.

You guys and your 11s. I'll just have to be satisfied with low to mid 12s since a supercharger is not on my approved Christmas list (and likely never will be).

Hey MichMach,
As you know I have the stock hood. Last week the insulation under the hood started rubbing against the s/c cover on the letter N on the word Saleen on the passanger side. The clearence was tight to begin with, I knew eventually this was going to happen. Dealer has two possible fixes, cut the insulation in the area of the s/c cover, or remove the insulation totally and they would order me another one under warranty and I would just hold onto it. If I take it all off I am not sure if the heat will affect the paint on the hood. The car is used on my days off when the weather is nice, and I have seen many new cars with no insulation under the hood right from the factory.

Okay, think I read most... my opinion?

Well... if the guy wants the motor to last as NA stock he better leave it stock and drive it like grammy... a CF blower I think is easier on the internals as it does nothing if you don't want it to (ie. step on it.) I think the vibration issues is a thing of the past. If you have belt slippage under 15 PSI the install is wrong...

So with that said, for a commuter car, or car to last (not willing to blow it and build a motor) a mild CF set up with a safe tune.

If you want that low end TQ; TS, I like the KB and the Whipple. ALso look at a single turbo!

If I had a do ower; Twin Turbos, or at least one large one!!

Always cooled, always using the fuel system to 75% or less, with a SAFE tune!!

[I have a 8-rib Vortech with a 18 PSI pulley(actual is 14 PSI due to diched pistons (~8.5-9 comp?), P&P heads and LT headers), racing blow-off return and custom CAI/MAF. Dual Focus SVT fuel pumps, KB BAP, aeromotive lines and filter, CPR rails, 60# injectors.]

Good points with only one flaw. The Saleen TS has a boost bypass valve and only makes boost when you get on it. Normal driving and the car stays in vacuum all the time. No boost unless you want it. You can roll into the throttle and never see any boost on the gauge. I agree that if you are unwilling to build the engine or risk blowing it for financial or whatever reasons you should stay naturally aspirated or go with a nitrous setup. I have yet to see where anyone has blown an engine on these cars with a nitrous only setup. The down side is obvious. With most kits you only get the giggle gas at WOT. Bottle fills are around $50 and the bottle doesn't last long. But there again you can fill a bottle around 80 times for just the price of admission for a blower kit alone. I also agree if I had it all to do over again I'd build the motor first then put a 76mm turbo on it and explore 1000 rwhp! LOL
