Default CAI + tune is money well spent !

I removed my CAI last nigth cause I took my car in to my dealer today for the dash rattle TSB 06-4-1 and the fuel pump hesitation TSB 06-9-9..I really dont think my dealer would have cared but i removed it just to safe...
I cant believe the difference! I had only put 1000 miles or so on my car when I did the CAI but i dont remember it making that much difference but now with 3100 miles I can tell a huge difference without it!!! not the same car! its not near as loud...why is that???? timing???? I think my wifes V-6 with her CAI and tune would give me a good run
It is MONEY WELL SPENT!

I always wondered... I think we tend to get spoiled with the mods. I'd like to remember what it felt like stock. Maybe then I'd be satisfied and quit spending all this money trying to make it go faster

You know, it's funny this thread came up. I've been bored lately and have had some crazy ideas. I've considered putting my stock intake back on and re-installing the stock tune to see what it was like, back in the day. I know that with my headers and exhaust it wouldn't be pure stock but it probably would be close enough. Your right when you say that we're spoiled. I think modding must be like heroin. After awhile, the same dose just isn't enough. We need to increase it to get the same high. My .02

That's what worries me. Soon N/A won't be enough and I'll be forced to hit the hard stuff--supercharging. When will the madness end??

Understand... But supercharged you'd see huge gains with LT headers. LTs love FI!

As much as I would love to throw a Kenne Bell or Whipple twin screw on top of my motor, I just can't justify it. Meaning, I don't go to the track, I don't have the free time to go out late at night and find any unsuspecting victims and here in downtown San Diego, my commute is too short and has too much traffic to really open her up. Besides that, the price of gas and another kid on the way... well, you get the idea. About all I have left is some 3.73's and an X-pipe. After that I think I've reached the peak of my addiction.

Modding=The Perfect Drug.

Like ckp73 said...it's like heroin. You know, it just hit me at how great of an analogy that really is! Holy Poo!!! I'm so far gone at this point!!!

Sounds like you've completed the 12-step program.

One thing is for sure. If I never would have found this site I would still be 100% stock. This forum is an opium den for modders. You guys are the worst role models . "Go ahead man, just try it, all the cool kids are doing it".

I cant believe the difference! I had only put 1000 miles or so on my car when I did the CAI but i dont remember it making that much difference but now with 3100 miles I can tell a huge difference without it!!! not the same car! its not near as loud...why is that???? timing???? It is MONEY WELL SPENT!
It's funny because I did almost the same thing. I took my car in to the dealer this morning for three noises and a post-lowering alignment. However I left on my TI CAI and switched back from my Bamatune to my Modular Depot tune because the exhaust wreaks with the Bama and I didn't want the dealer to think I had monkeyed with my smog. With the MD tune it feels stock, which is to say borderline gutless at less than full throttle. With the Bama race tune it feels as though I put 4.10 gears in it it is so responsive.
BTW my noises were: a dash squeak which the dealer fixed with some foam, a rattle which turned out to be the passenger seat belt retractor which they are replacing, and a groan from the rear end noticeable when making u-turns. They have the diff cover off now and are investigating the cause. Interestingly they said they could not align my front end because the camber with the Steeda Ultralite springs was too far off. The service guy didn't know the actual readings but I'll find out tomorrow. I was surprised that the camber changed that much with the 1 inch Steeda drop.

now this is a very cool thread. i am in the early stages of addition, i am just a rookie with my first mods yet to come. i know what you are saying, i have a few mods in mind. first a cold air kit. so now im shopping all the dealer for the best price on there product. i know some are better than others, so what better to do than ask people who has the best S*** lol its like we are drug dealers peddling products. who's is better, which adds more hp, how long will the buzz last. the only thing i can say we dont piss our money away, we have something to show for it. if this is a high (which i know it is) ill be stoned the rest of my life!!!

burnin some FAT ones.........(my tires) the72fins

great thread !!!!!!!!!!!!
