Default Guys with off road X's?

Im about to buy the pypes off road x pipe to go on with my flowmasters. My question is how many o2 sensors are there? I have seen 3 wholes on the x pipes, but all the 02 simulators are sold in pairs. Could anyone clear this up for me?

A full length X should have 4 O2 bungs. Two forward of where the cats would normally be and two aft. A short X (for LT headers) would only have the rear O2s.

Ok, this is probably a stupid question but Ill ask anyway. I only need the MIL eliminators for the sensors that are behind where the cats would have been, right?

I've looked into the same mod and although I'm not positive, I'm fairly certain you only need to replace the rear set of O2 sensors. I'm curious to hear other responses.

Also-- I assume you plan on retuning it, have you given any thought to what tuner you're going with?

There are three O2 sensors and you DO NOT have to replace any of them. You DO NOT need MIL eliminators if you have a tuner. The tune can turn off the existing O2s, so basically they are there just to fill the bungs.

You are correct.

No... There are 4 O2 sensors on a stock GT exhaust (two forward of the cats and two aft cat). While the rears are turned off in the tune, the fronts are absolutely required to make minor AFR adjustments in the PCM and are not turned off in the tune. That 3rd bung on the X-pipe can just be plugged or you could use a wideband O2 there.

From what I recall when installing my own O/R X, I only removed THREE O2 sensors to remove the stock H. One in front of the cat on the passenger side, and two in the top of each cat itself. That is only a total of THREE - one front and two rears. Now as far as replacing, I meant that there was no need to replace them with different parts. They do need to be replaced in the corresponding holes they came out of. Simulators or MIL eliminators are not needed.

So, when removing/installing a mid pipe, there are only three O2s to deal with. Maybe there is one up farther, actually on the manifold on the drivers side...

Kinda...

There are 4 total on our exhaust system....but only 3 on the midpipe. The drivers side manifold has the 4th o2 sensor, but that is not of any importance when swapping out the mid pipe.

So, in regards to the question of how many o2 sensors are on the mid pipe, there are 3.

I hope we didn't confuse the hell out of this guy!

Ahhh, your're right... So you still use the front two O2s in the new midpipe, right? And just plug the 3rd bung?

There's no reason to take out the o2's unless your running an A/F gauge.

I have all 3 in their respective bungs.

The rear 2 have been turned off via my tune, and when I get a Wideband, I'll take out one of the o2's for the new sensor.

The mid pipe has 1 o2 in the front (passenger side) and 2 behind the cats (driver and passenger side).

I've got this exhaust system down packed! After 2 different midpipes and 4 different axle backs, you get used to the whole thing.

Hell, I can swap axlebacks in 20 minutes tops (I don't use a jack or jackstands), and I can swap the midpipe in about 30...

You know, I forgot it's all different since I've got long tubes. I have the two front O2s in the collectors and the two rears (turned off) in the X aft of my now hollow cats. Sorry for all the confusion. I think I'm all straightened out now!

I know how you feel on exhaust. I've had two sets of shorties, two different Xs, long tubes and 3 different axle backs. We should go into the used exhaust parts business

Yeah tell me about it! My exhaust budget was blown away!

Have you ever been on the dyno? You've got most of the available bolt ons, and I'm in a debate with a guy who thinks 400 rwhp while N/A is still possible while on pump gas...

316 on a mustang dyno so if you do the math that might put me at mid 340s on a DJ. Will probably go back once I have the delete plates on just to make sure my new tune is spot on. With PnP heads, cams and a few other boltons, I think 400 is within reach (maybe). High 300s for sure.
