Default CAI, Tune and the Warranty

I have researched the question of: If I add a CAI with a computer tune will it void my warranty (extended). The dealership said that it will, if I do anything to the computer. They will know because there is a seal on the port or plug. If I try to by another plug or port they will know that the numbers don't match. I don't want to lose the warranty, however I am ready to pull the trigger for the mods.
Let me know.
See you down the road.

They don't know what the heck they're talking about. The tune is uploaded via the OBDII port which is not sealed in any way. All they can tell is how many times the PCM has been accessed, not the specific activity. If you return to stock before a warranty visit (and you don't tell anyone), they have no way of knowing that you've changed out the stock tune.

Thanks for the response. I know this topic has been discussed numerous times, however it has not been clearly explained. I do know the owner of the dealership but I am hesitant to mention my intentions. I had his son contact the service manager to get some answers. Since I have an extended service plan ($1895.) I don't want to lose or void it. What are your thoughts on the FRPP CAI, do they have a computer tune that you could recommend?
I appreciate the feedback.

The FRPP CAI is nothing really special. There are far better out there. And you have to remember that FRPP parts can void your warranty the same as anything else out there!

I guess ill throw in my $0.02 as usual...

Wayne- I know what ford dealership your talking about, and they are the same people who said "we will seel you a roush supercharger that voids your whole warranty." That doesn't sound very smart to me.

As for the warranty, If you take off you CAI and put on the stock one + stock tune, they can only tell your computer has been flashed or whatever its called. Just tell them you left an interior light on and had to take your batter out. They wont know. And if you need warranty work done take it to the Ford dealership on capitol . They can't sell cars for crap, but they do good warranty work.

Didn't my car have a nice feeling to it?

P.S. I also showed you the tuner and where the tuner plugs in. Did you happen to see anything sealed or closed about it?

Thanks for the 2 cents. I think I am up to 6 sense now...That should be a good down payment for something. Let me know if you had any warranty work done since you did your mod. Yes, your car runs and sounds great. I'll call you when I order the goodies.
Thanks for all the advice.

Any thoughts on which CAI you're leaning toward? I've run both the C&L and Powerhouse Pipeline with great success. The TI and JLT are great products too.

I believe he is leaning towards the TI or the C&L. Probably from brenspeed or bamachips as I have recommended. Which I know all of you with second those choices. I rec. brenspeed just because thats where I got my stuff from is all. . Call me when you order and I will come over and install and flash it for you.

As moose said, I will probably go with the C&L and Breenspeed. I think he said that he will wax the car also...

lol. I can't make your car shine anymore than you already have it. I can make it faster by installing the C&L for you though. I havent installed that one but im sure the concept is the same.
