Default 3.55 Limited Slip Identification?

Guys, how can I positively identify that my '07 GT has the 3.55 limited slip? Other than doind a burnout, how can I be sure?

unless requested you'll have a 3:31 If you have LSD, On the inside of the driver door jam where it shows AXL should be the letters CD. as far as the gear ratio mine has the ratio on the diff cover(white tag)....

Why are we even asking this

Go out your door. Start the car. Turn off traction control. Warm up the engine. You'll feel the adrenaline Rev to about 2500-3000 RPM and release the horses... I mean the "clutch".

After an hour or so of driving around with no particular destination, you will return home and see your patch. Occasionally, you will tell your wife you have to "check to be sure you still have limited slip" in case the first test was a fluke.

I am asking because the 3.55 gears are an option on the '07 stang, which means I can use one in SCCA SoloII and still be considered stock. If they are going to give me more off the line punch and near posi, then I'd like to find out if I have one yet. Because if I don't I want to consider swapping my rear end.

I am not sure if this is exactly on topic, but I know I had the 3.55 gears (came stock on the '05 GT). Prior to me changing my gears to 4.10, I was talking to my neighbor one day and not paying attention when II was pulling my car out of the garage. I gave it a bit much gas and rapidily discovered I left two tire tracks on my garage floor. Now I am not expert when it comes to posi traction or limited slip, but I found it interesting that I left two tire tracks and not just one. Does this mean the 3.55 limited slip is very similar to a posi traction?

Yes... The Ford Trac Loc in the 3.55 rear end is a limited slip diff.

If you have a manual transmission and a GT, you have the limited slip differential with the 3.55 ratio.

I have an Auto Tans. I also have the .331 axle. But I did the burnout test and its a limited slip. Mine also says CG on the door jam.

I called the dealer today and gave them my VIN. They punched it in and told me the CG means you have the 3:31 gears. They told me I had the ltd. slip differential, though. Today I tried to test it by doing a burn-out. I couldn't even get the tires to burn at all, even with the traction control thing turned off. I tried three times and the darn car hesitated a second and just took off without a burn. I am really disappointed in my automatic.

The auto trans owners will have to help with you on this. I can tell you I was able to drive my car when it was totally stock and I had no problem doing a burn out, even with two extra people in the car.

That's a shame. The standard Traction-Lock was one of the big reasons to buy a Mustang GT.

I don't know why anyone would want an open differential when a limited slip was available.
