Default What do YOU run in your 2005+ Mustang GT?

Dealing with a few non-believers on LS1tech.com about them. I say that in the right conditions, they can run low-mid 13s. They tell me they're mid-high 13s with Evan Smith driving them. So if anybody has any timeslips they would like to post, that would be much obliged

On a recently-aired episode of Horsepower TV they did an LS1 Z28 buildup. Stock it put down 241 rwhp on the Dynojet. With CAI, headers, high-flow cat and catback exhaust it was something like 269-the same as a stock S197. Interesting.

Just 24Irwhp? My friend's '02 WS6 made 333rwhp with just a whisper lid, and 300-3I0rwhp is perfectly normal. And expected. If an LSI is putting down 24Irwhp, there is something wrong with it. Or it was an LTI. And yes, I'm talking BONE stock. Down to th filter. Just wanna shut them up.

LOL - First of all, you can tell the guys on that forum if they think even 5 cars are running at the track stock then they obviously have never been to a track...lol

Comparing stock times has always been and always will be for bench racers and RICERS. Bear in mind when I say 'ricers' it is not meant towards drivers of imports. 'Ricers' drive mustangs, GTO's. Corvettes, etc, etc, too. It's not what you drive - it's your frame of mind IMO.

Okay, now having gotten that out of the way... who cares what ANY stock car runs cause if you take anything stock to the track and expect to get attention, you're in for a rude awakening.

Now there are a lot of fast GM guys out there but most of the mustangs I know of walk them effortlessly. (speaking about late model cars here)

I know one guy with a camero on a built motor with a huge 2 stage N20 blast and he runs mid 10's but the MAJORITY of GM guys I see at the track (again - late model speaking) have the simple bot-on's, a cam swap, and maybe a small N20 set-up and typically run low 12's - high 11's. Again, I'm not talking about everyone, but this is the times I see out of the majority.

Now I can thnk of 10 mustang guys off the top of my head (Don being one of them) that run mid to low 11's on a daily driver. I know a lot more, but can think of 10 real quick that I know and see run all the time.

So take this for what it's worth, talk is cheap. Simply go to any local track and my money is on the fact that as a whole, the late model mustangs there will be quicker than the late model GM's at almost every local track in the country.

You don't get a head start for being stock...lol And I haven't met one person who is into racing that keeps their car stock.

I personally ran high 11's on the stock motor for over a year and am MUCH faster now in a full weight street legal car.

Don's is a mid to low 11 sec ride on a total Daily Driver...

13 & 14 secnd S197's sounds good when you're reading Motor Trend, but in real life at the track, there's a big difference...

Another member I know has a stock auto GT and has been out at the track a few times, going head to head with me. His BEST time was 13.43 @ 102.38. The day we were out together and ran head to head he was running about 13.6-13.7 - It was a different track where he achieved his best.

I do have timeslips of us head to head if you really need one.

Yeah...thanks... Actually, when I go to the track, the LS1 F-bodies (even stock/bolt-on) are running all over most of the 94+ Mustangs, the "ricers" are embarassing themselves (not talking necessarily about imports, as well), and in general, a built fox-body is one of the fastest cars there. But I don't go to big tracks very often. And Stoenr, I actually will take one or two of those timeslips, if you don't mind

Sorry I can't help on any stock timeslips (I never ran mine stock), but I have seen similar things here in SD that Mark speaks of regarding the late model cars. I really don't see too many late model Camaros/Firebirds at our two tracks here, but the few I have seen aren't overly impressive.

However, there is a guy running an LS1 GTO with a Magnacharger pushing 13.5psi boost. Even with a much bigger displacement (5.7L)and more boost, he was still a tick slower than my little 4.6L on 12psi... Twice. Nothing better than opening a can of whoopazz on a "BLWNGTO". Show these two videos to the naysayers on LS1tech.com. hehe

Mustang vs GTO - Race #1: This run was the first matchup against the 2004 LS1 GTO running a supercharger at 13.5psi. Even thought he went red on the tree, I was still able to catch him and then drive around him. Here are the numbers: 7.304 @ 96.515, 1.635 60' vs the GTO’s 7.560 @ 91.104, 1.653.

Mustang vs GTO - Race #2: Now it was my wife's turn to take down the blown GTO. Her 7.286 @ 95.716, 1.688 was enough to cover his 7.397 @ 93.280, 1.585.

Haha. Yea, that definitely happens sometimes... she's 100lbs lighter than me and is not afraid to drop the hammer. She loves to go out there and try to outrun me.

And in this particular case, my run against the GTO was a "hot lap"... just 6 minutes after my previous run. The car tends to slow down when we hot lap it. Also, her run was later at night with cooler, better air (and a 45 minute cool down after the previous run). But, like I said, she likes to go quick. In fact, she had the best run that day for my car... 7.219 @ 95.55. Overall, her best ET so far has been 7.181 @ 95.54. I always remind her that she needs a few more 1/100s to catch my 7.155.

Not my best runs, only my 5th and 6th runs in it ever. Lotsa practice in store for me this spring, I need it.

Mine are the underlined runs
CAI,tune,UDP, stick vs Stock, Stick. Both amateur drivers, Not sure on weight.

Gracias. So in ya'll's opinion, it is definitely a 13.3-13.5s capable car, on the right day, at the right track, with the right driver?

13.4-13.5, I haven't heard of a stock one getting lower than 13.4.
