Default Please Help Just Installed JLT intake and Tune with Xcal2

Hello, if anyone would help me with this problem I would appreciate it.

Today I installed a JLT cai in my 2005 mustang GT. When i plugged in my Xcal to load my new tune from Bama Chips (87 perf) the diplay center on the dash gave me these error messages:

Check Charging System
Check Trac Control
Fuel Level Low dte odo data err

When the tune was done loading, ie 100%, I received these two errors:
Engine Temp Warning
Check Fuel Cap

I drove the car down the street and when I hit it in 2nd gear at around
3000 rmps the car went into fail safe mode and I had to limp home.

Does anyone know what is going on with my Mustang?

The dash errors are normal while the tune is loading. All should have disappeared once the download was complete. As for the failsafe, sounds like something is off in the tune. Did the car throw any DTCs in addition to the failsafe. Email Doug, he'll fix you up!

Another thing to check is your CAI install. Make sure it's on good and tight and the cone filter is snug. Also check to make sure your MAF sensor is seated properly and the harness connected.

Thanks for the quick reply. Everything seems to be tight with the JLT, but I will check again. There were no DTCs, does the tuner have to be plugged in when the problem occurs to pick them up? I emailed Doug, but today is a Sunday, and I doubt I will get a response today, so I posted on here and on another forum. Thanks for your help.

Default problem with tune

Hey, I just got a tuner not long ago so I don't know a whole lot about it. But, did you follow the instructions exactly? You did not have the key turned at all during the beginning of the tune did you?(supposed to just have the key in the ignition but not turned AT ALL until the tuner tells you to). Just trying to throw some ideas out there. Hope it works out OK.

It turns out that my clamps had come loose so I tightened them down really tight and am no longer having any problems. Thanks for the help guys!

My guess is you were getting way too much air so the engine went failsafe rather than blow itself up Glad you found it. Let us know if you have any other issues.

The clamps on my JLT at the filter base were a b*tch. Mine was so oily it wouldn't stay on. I had to clean all the oil off the inside of the filter mating surface and the aluminum of the intake before it would stay on well. you may want to consider that if it happens again.

Good luck, and enjoy it. Run the low octane tune for a month and then go up to the high octane. I've got the SCT factory tunes, but the mileage is enough better on 93 octane to cover over half the cost increase. and the way it drives is worth twice the cost!!
