Default HP turbo kits opinions

I am still doing alot of research on turbo kits and i wanted to get some opinions on the kit offered from HP. The system uses the stock cats so thats a big plus for me. Does anyone have this kit installed or any other info?

That kit and the Hellion kit both look really good. I went with the powerhouse turbo because I installed it myself and at the time didn't know of a tuner in my area. The Powerhouse kit comes with a base 91 octane 9lb tune.

The only thing about the HP kit that I can see from the web page is it doesn't appear to have any fuel system upgrade besides the injectors. You may want to look into a BAP or dual pump setup if you plan on going north of 400, which I assume you would.

I recall seeing one install thread on the web and there were a couple fitment issues with the pipes but nothing at all unusual for a turbo install in a stock engine bay. The Powerhouse setup is snug as well.

I think the HP kit looks great and if you have access to a tuner and the price is right, go for it

woops...nevermind the fuel system comment...it comes with dual focus pumps. I just learned to read.

Also, double check about the stock cats in the HP setup. It reads as if they are not retained. The Y pipe to "cat-back" means it's attaching after the cats.

The Hellion kit has a configuration that retains the cats but the pipes run under the a-arms.

Yup nice site here. Good to see other perspectives.

The stock cats thing is interesting if it's true. I think the only way that can work is if you collect the exhaust to run it to the turbo by attaching the collector pipe to the cats, running a big horseshoe from the cat collection forward and up to the exhaust turbine. That adds piping distance and cost and the HP cost is very reasonable as advertised.

If they confirm it retains the stock cats, ask for a photo of the undercarriage so you can see the configuration.

I think with the Garrett 60, the focus pumps would be fine.

THP makes a wicked twin turbo kit and they are also making a single turbo kit which should be done within the month.

True...the thing to keep in mind is the THP base kit is just that, a basic kit. You need to pick your kit components a la carte fashion. Not a bad thing, just different.

Everytime I see a twin setup like that, I always wonder if the car gets driven without air filters attached to the turbos...
