Default Hard wiring radar detector

Have a ValentineOne on the way. Not sure exactkly sure hiw I will mount, but will start with visor clip. Will hardwire -- plan is into the housing that holds the interior lights. Question - is there a switched wire in the interior light housing?

Yea if you have lighted visors u can use it for the juice for the detector. Just make sure the detector does no absolutely need the plug to convert to ac current if that is the case you have a lot of work ahead of u. When you get it unscrew the pulg and see if there is a resistor in it to modify the current to it. if it just has a fuse or none at all you can wire it up to the visor. Or u can ground it to the dome light ground wire and run a wire to a ignition on source. Also make sure u use the ignition on wire or every time u go to listen to just the radio the detector will drive u crazy turning on every time u go to ACC.

I had Ford install their auto dimming rear view mirror w/garage door opener transmitter (it's now an option for 2007) and asked them to run an extra power cable for my Valentine 1. It's not difficult to do, but you will have to remove some of the decorative interior trim pieces. If you can get a copy of the instructions for installing the mirror, that might show you how to install a power cable for the Valentine 1. I believe there is a fuse box on the front passenger side that they tied into.

Hmm, easier to just not speed until you get to the track, then hit it hard.

I used the suction cup mount and placed my V1 high and to the left of the rear view mirror. I think all the wires in the dome light are hot 24/7. I ran the straight wire (also same as the escort and bel wires) to the fuse box on the passenger kick panel. Just found a fuse that was switched and pluged the wire into it. Goes on and off with the key. Those tiny wires are a beoach to strip.
