Default FRPP- FR500B Wheel Questions for 2005+ Mustang

Has any one seen the FRPP FR500B 18X9 Wheel?

I really like the way this wheel looks.

The wheels are shown on a 2005+ Mustang on page 36in the FRPP 2007 catalog.

The application chart says it fits 1994-2004 Mustangs.

The 5 lug 4.5" bolt pattern on the FR500 Wheel meshs with the 05's, but the back spacing is different.

The 5.98" backspacing differs from the 6.295" backspacing on the 2005+

What does this figure mean?

The link below contains a pic of the wheel from a place called Nino Sport. I don't know anything about them they just happened to come in in my search results as having the wheel.

The wheels are in the stratosphere as far as price.

Thanks

Did you check Tirerack or American Muscle?

The backspacing is how far from the back side of the rim to the mounting flange. This would place these wheels out about 1/4" from stock 18 x 8.5 with 6.295 backspacing.

Default So they will work?

What's the bottom line with the difference in the 5.9" VS 6.298" bacspacing?

Does this mean that the wheel will stick out more or less from underneath the fender well based on the backspace?

Or does this have anything to do with it?

Sorry for being such a complete NEWB when it comes to the rim thing.

I just want to get it right and this is the place to do it!

I mean I guess if they (FRPP) have it pictured in their own catalog on a 2005+ it's ok, but it's not like they have multiple angles that allow you to get a full picture of how they'll look.

Thanks

They should work. Stick out about 1/4" more.

I found a replica wheel at a place called mrbodykit.com

Not sure about their reputation.

If I could find out who actually makes this replica wheel, I can get my local tire delaer to order it from a distributor.

All I see is an "R" on the center cap, any idea what brand that may be?

They call the whell the Mustang 380 wheel but it looks identical to the Ford Racing F500 Wheel.

Here are the specs on their Mustang 380 Wheel

WheelBoltOffsetBackLoadWheelHub BoreSizeCirclemmSpacingRatingWeightDiameter

18x95x4.5+366.421400262.788

Here is the pic

For me it's either these or the black bullets.

Any reason to get different size rims on the front and back?

I like the idea of having all 18X9 so I can rotate the tires.

Thanks for all the help

I was dealing with the same issues when searching for my GT500 Replicas... What I did was call American Muscle (www.americanmuscle.com) and ask them the actual manufacturer of the GT500 rims which they had in stock. I know that they also have the FR500 rims, so you could do the same. I then went to discount tire and talked with the representatives there, and as long as you have the manufacturer of the rim they can almost always get them at a great price.... plus you can have them throw on some rubber while their at it and you're all set!

Take a Look at this, We put the FR's on our yellow GT and they fit Fine.
We ran 285/45/18's out back and 275/45/18's up front with no change to springs when these pictures were taken. We currently run a set of the Ford racing Springs from the handling pack and they still fit fine with no issues of rubbing.

I just got mine on today (18x10.5 & 18x9). The rears have 305/35s and the fronts are 275/35. The rears are about 1\4" past wheelwell. Bought mine @ cruzin concepts....$600 to the door, and it only took a day to arrive. Hope this helps.

I bought my '06 with FR500C wheels that had been installed by the dealer. The wheels looked so great I could not resist. I found out later that they were not real FRPP FR500 wheels- they were just clones.

The wheels were only 9 inches wide, but they stuck out of the fender wells so badly that I had to replace them when I lowered my car 1" with the Steeda kit.

All I can say is, be very careful when you buy off-brand wheels. I am not the only one out here with a wheel off-set horror story.

There is plenty of good looking junk out there right now... good luck.

Default Thanks Helicfii - That's what I'm tring to avoid

I appreciate the heads up.

Do you have anyway of knowing if it was just the offset that caused the wheels to stick out?

I mean I don't think it was just the 18 X 9 rim size alone.

I have read a lot of posts on 2005+ Mustangs where people listed lowering springs in their sig and wheels from 18-20 inch without ever seeing a "stuck way out past the fender well" problem.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but I think the whole wheel thing is going to be my last upgrade.

Besides my current tires have only 10K.

There has to be some reason why even the new Shelby GT comes with
18 x 8.5 wheels and not 18x9.

I definitely think I should install my lowering springs ahead of the wheels.

Someone mentioned how the FRPP performance pack was a pretty good deal considering what all you get. I may go this route and also add a CAI.

Thanks

Well, since I did not use any type of spacer, of course it was the off-set that caused my wheels to stick out on the back... the wheels were junk to me, even though they looked cool. If I had this problem with 255 wide tires, I cannot even imagine the problems others have had with a wider tire when they get a set of wheels with an improper off-set.
