I am currently throwing around the idea of getting Long Tube headers for my 06 GT. My question is this: what is the best Long Tube header kit/system for the money? I love the way the kooks are designed and have heard of great things from them but I have also heard that the JBA set is pretty good too. I woulded mind getting the Bassani's or the SLP set but I dont know much about them. Which do you guys have and which are the best for the money? By the way I will be going catless
I plan on purchasing either the Whipple 2.3L SC or the Kenne Bell 2.6L SC in the near future(12 months or less) and would think that either of the headers I have mentioned earlier(kooks,JBA,bassani, slp) woudl help the output of those kits tremendously. Thanks for any help....

I spoke with Frank at Evolution Performance last week and he recommended American Racing Headers and Xpipe with cats. Here is a web site that handles them. You also mentioned you going to a power adder. As you can check out they recommend using the 1 3/4" headers for your application. The 1 5/8" for N/A setups.
2006 MUSTANG GT Vista Blue. FRPP Springs. Cobra R Wheels. C&L Racer. XCAL 2 with Bama tunes. Shaker Hood Scoop. 73 Mustang Rear Spoiler. CDC Front Spoiler. Center Fog Lights Grill. Grey strips. Stainless Works long tube headers with there three inch exhaust. Custom grey leather inserts. Prothane motor mounts. Steeda Tri-AX shifter. 4.10 gears. quarter window louvers. Steeda upper. BMR adjustable panhard and support.

What would be the drawback of using the larger diameter headers on a N/A motor untill I purchase the SC? I dont think it would be something that couldnt be tuned for?
Kooks and JBA are the S197 standard but I run the SLPs and they are just as well made in my opinion and cost far less.
The only reason I am hesitant about the SLP is because of my Fbody experiences with them(I use to own a 95 Z28[now my dads car]) and the LT1, LS1 guys were have problems with the fittment and ground clearance with them-according to the forums I use to frequent. But it seems you are pretty satisfied with your...

I ran 1.75" tubes while NA for a while. I was running Doug's tunes at the time, and he e-mailed me a revision for the LTs. The only downside might have been a very slight loss of low end torque, but my track ETs improved. And once the KB went on, I suddenly regained the low end torque (and then some! ).

Thanks, I was thinking that a good tune wouldnt let it cause any problems
Catless, Kooks hands down. Have em', love em'!! All mentioned above are good headers though!!
MD may still have the AFM discount, I think $100 off... if you're close to Cinci they can do the install and dyno (if you like) or just providethe generic tune... - Ford Mustang Performance from Modular Depot

The SLPs fit great but are really long and do hang below the frame. In fact, I destroyed my high flow cats from hitting them so often. Since I deleted the cats, clearance is no longer an issue.

Well I will have to look into that, I live about 1 hour north of Dayton(near Bellefontaine OH, yes its BFE lol)....Maybe I'll schedule a road trip for a dyno tune(i can install them myself no problem, I am a indrustrial service technician by trade)-I went to this place located in Beavercreek Precision Autosports, he seemed to do a real good job with my gear install and dyno tune though so I might have to check him out again for a Long tube header tune.....

That is one install I'd never do again on my own By far my worst modding experience. I'm sure a few others will agree.
