Is it really that pricey? The way he put it, it was borderline not even worth it IMO. He was talking upwards of 600hp. I want a car, not a missile that is undriveable except at the track.

KJ's completely redone his internals. He can give you details on price (no it ain't cheap) and daily drivability.

i didn't bother to read all 5 pages, but i skimmed them. Maybe someone has already mentioned that there is a 302 stroker kit from eagle that will help out a lot. i've seen it for around $2,400.

Maybe so, but have you ever actually driven a missile on wheels? Oh dear god, you would change your mind. Heh heh.
Based on displacement and the nice top end on these cars, a well sorted turbo car should belt out 800+ wheel hp on pump.

But dear God, not on the stock internals. The 3v seems to be good up to the 475-500 rwhp range. Beyond that, it really needs a much beefier bottom-end.

Which is why I am going have a build short block done before I turn up the boost any higher.

Mick, if you're going to tear up your motor anyways wait until then to do the cams! Save a buck on install... BTW, why not send the heads away too for some TLC?

Max/BigW,

A. The car drives as it's set up to do. I drive mine everyday, even in rain (sometimes snow!) with just about 650 HP. No problem... the missile aspect comes in though when you get on it...

B. All and any internals you find online are OVERPRICED!! I know since I know what they cost and that's where the engine builder make some dough. I think it would be a misstake to buy parts and bring to a builder... then you have two guys who need/get/take dough...

Just pick good internals and a good builder! Any moran can tell you what internals to get, the same moran can probably put it together! But can s/he balance it and make ALL clearances PERFECT?

Stick to the big builders still doing it in house one by one! Thinking of Boss, Fox Lake, VT... there are a few more but not many!!!

Unless it's already wounded, I can't imagine why. There are plenty of guys over 600rwhp on a stock Cobra short block. They are pretty stout.

That is what I was thinking KJ what ever I do, it will all be done at the same time. My feeling now is since I did not get the car until Sept 06 I will drive it the way it is and around Dec. it will be worked on. That is my plan anyway.

Do NOT get the FRPP heads. Suttonhp dynoed them and only got 13rwhp but got 31rwhp from stage 3 comp cams. I have seen MM&FF test the Livernois Stage 1's and they got 40rwhp. FRPP heads are conservative and they don't give max performance.

I apologize, it is an 01 Cobra. He told me he would cream his pants if he had an 03-04.

How about stage 3 cams with stage 1 livernois heads? 50-55 hp?

FRPP also cost a heck of alot more!!

Hmm... didn't know the FRPP ones were that bad...

I had a +30 RWHP gain with Fox Lake heads.

I have been waiting for somebody to do 'it all'... the works plus heads and cams... see how close to 400...
