I am new to this forum and posted my introduction yesterday. I love the car, great performance and thusfar has served me well in Germany.
I have had my fuel tank replaced last year, however, noticed, recently, after a long and fast trip on the German Autobahn, that refuelling remains a huge challenge; it takes forever! Learned, meanwhile, that the replacement of the fuel tank is not a remedy.
I used a previous Post, suggesting, to clean the filter to the cannister with compressed air. I did that, however, my lines and the filter were not restricted at all. I do not drive in dusty conditions!
Interesting enough is the fact that, in town I can use any fiiling station and do not experience any problems. However, I use the car mostly for long-distance trips using the Freeways. The filling stations, I think, use much more powerful pumps to get a quicker thruput of vehicles and it takes forever, to fill the gas tank.
My question is the following, if a new tank is not a remeday and the filter to the cannister is not restricted, are all of you who have the same problem, applying the suggestion to wait one to two minutes before refilling and/or turning the nozzle upside down? Please keep in mind filling in town is not a problem only using freeway gas stations
and filling from quarter to full is the challenge.
Looking forward to get your experience. By the way, do not suggest patience. I have enoug of that. It is the people waiting behind me to get finished and they normally do not like my joke that I need 100 gallons and, hence, it takes a bit longer. Thanks for helping me.
I also recall them saying hold the nozzle upside down when filling
That's what I do... I never bothered even taking it to the dealer for the "fix".

I had an 05 GT Convt and could never fill the tank up more than half full, even turning the pump upsidedown. I complained to my Ford dealer. At first he told me there was no fix. I complained that I read on the forums that changing out the gas tank with an update model helped others, so I demanded he do the same. He did, and it worked. This was taken care of under warranty.
Now I have an 07 GT Convt. and the same thing is happening again. The Ford dealer told me again, there is no fix, and that the 07 model even has the new gas tank from the 06 model year. So I started getting mad, and finally a tech comes up and says he will replace the charcoal canister in the fuel tank, as that sometimes gets clogged, causing problems.
Its amazing that Ford doesn't offer to help fix these issues the first time. Why do they only fix things if you scream up and down? Why don't they care to redesign the tank so it works like every other car? I bet you don't get this problem in a cheap Kia? So why in a $36,000 Mustang?
And Ford wonders why they are losing money and market share to Toyota and Honda!!!!!
We have the filling problem here,it was assumed that our pumps are faster than in the states, yet if i use Esso i dont have a problem cause they seem slower.
