Default 2005 Mustang GT front facia and/or headlight removal question

Okay, I need some help. I am trying to install a set of hood pins, much like how kj_cinci described in his hood thread. I understand what needs to be done, I am just not sure how to do it. I took out the rubber hood stops and looked around. The metal piece where the hood latch and hood stops are is a boxed piece of metal. I do not see any holes on the underneath side to work with. So, I jacked up my car, and crawled underneath to take a peak.

I see, that if I remove the headlights, I could then drill a hole in the bottom section of that metal brace (where the hood latch and hood stops are located) and install the hood pins. Furthermore, I have a set of clear front turning lenses to install as well.

Now here is my question...do I need to remove the front facia (and maybe grill) in order to remove the headlights? If so, how difficult is it ro remove the headlights and front facia?

Why I am at it, how exactly do the the truning signal lenses come out? I saw two clips near the fender well, and I observed that the lense assembly itself has at least one tab that is inserted into the bumper assembly. Other than that, I am clueless. I do not want to use brute force to remove them, just to discover that finesse would have worked better.

Sine I am mechanically challenged, I am a bit hesitant to remove the front facia of my Show Car just so I can install a set of hood pins, and why I am there, a set of clear trun signal lenses. But on the other hand, I really do not look forward to spending a small fortune for a body shop to do the work either.

Any help, tips, advice would be highly appreciated.

The front clip does need to come off to remove the headlight buckets. It's just a few screws and clips. To get to the turning signal lenses you need to remove the wheel well liner and access from behind.

Okay, I am whimping out...I am going to have the body shop install the hod pins, and if taking the front clip off is necessary (kj did nto need to take his front clip off to install thepins), I will have them repalce the turn signal lenses (only if they have to take off the front clip). I am just too nervous about taking the front end off my Stang...I am too worried I will not be able to put it back on correctly and it will drive me mad if the front bumper is misaligned or something does not work quite right after I have worked on it.

Good idea. You screw something up and you'll never forgive yourself. Either that or you'll do something silly like give your car away

I Agree with Mark on that. Some times its safer if you don't feel comfee on doing that. I know how you feel about taking your baby apart. I'm thinking of changing my front end to the shelby or the extended nose Fang. Its hard to explain some things over the internet.
