Default Boost Gauge (Stupid) Question ....

Hey everyone....
I've got a really dumb question (seems dumb to me anyways).

I just finished installing a blower in my 06GT, and I wanted to throw a boost gauge on the a-pillar. I tapped the vacuum line near the fuel rail sensor. At idle, the gauge reads 30lbs of vacuum...and when I rev to around 3500-4000rpm, the gauge only moves up to 20lbs of vacuum. Never reaches positive (boost) pressure on the gauge. Is this a faulty gauge??...or did I tap in the wrong spot (which is probably the more likely story).

I also tapped the sensor for the Boost-A-Pump at the same location.
Is that okay??...or should that be moved as well.

Feeling Dumb.
Thanks for the help in advance.

You will only see boost under in neutral and no load the boost range comes to quick. You didn't have to tap into the manifold either. Just use a t in one of the vac lines. Also in the 50's when windshield wipers worked off of vacum you'd have no wipers going up a hill and real fast ones comming down lol So same idea with the boost. It only kicks in when the vac. drops to 0 when engine under load and then the guage then reads some boost when the s/c starts to work.

It should be around 22" of vac at idle.

You will not build boost unless you are under load. Get in it and drive LOL

Who's blower do you have? And did they give you any directions on where to pick up the boost for a gage?

I bought the Paxton H.O. kit from Brenspeed.com.
The guys there are terrific and helped me out a lot.
The gauges I bought after the fact at a local shop, and the directions are pretty vague. So I basically just tapped the vacuum line near the fuel rail sensor. Maybe it's supposed to go into a line after the intake manifold??

Fuel rail sensor? You should tap into the vaccum line on the right side of the intake near the fuel rail. I think we are saying the same thing. This same line gets tapped for your gauge and your blower...

Cheers,
SA

Okay...so I finally got the chance to tinker around with the gauges again this weekend - still same problem.

At idle, the gauge reads around 22vaccuum....but under full load the gauge never reads positive pressure - it only goes to 0 at best. If I physically blow into the tube, it does move to the positive side so I dont think there's a problem with the gauge itself...I think I've just tapped the wrong spot (vaccuum line at the drivers side of the intake manifold).

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!

Can you snap some pics of where you are tapping into. It is kind of hard for me to picture what you are looking at. Just IM them to me and I can let you know....

Cheers,
SA
