Any car after 97 get the OBD11 inspection in Pa.

Update: Solution found!

After going through the above procedure (This is a pain in the a**), I still failed inspection, none of the DTCs were cleared. At this point, I called Brenspeed and asked for help. Brent called me back and informed me that because I am running the high flow cats, they turned off the rear O2 sensors...THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE FAULTS!!!

Brent is going to send me a tune that turns the rear O2 sensors back on, and hopefully my check engine light won't come back on and I can get it inspected....will keep you guys updated.

That sure would be nice if it were a user adjustable option in the Xcal

I was looking at this thread just browsing around and I am not sure what DTC's even are. I see it has something to do with smog so thats why im interested. I have california smog check which is ridiculously harsh. How do i find out if i have to go through an ODBII scan and how would you prepare for this problem?

But isn't there a 7 year grace period in Ca. before your first inspection?

This IntelliTXT stuff sucks.

Actually, isn't this their goal, "to keep people from modifying anything on their cars." They think that this may actually keep the working man's car, on the road, staying "decent" (at least with respect to the emissions).

But, then, the NC legislature is not necessarily the sharpest bunch of knives in the drawer . I've gone through the emissions inspections in PA, CT, and NC. In all cases, they actually checked the emissions on a dyno. The OBDII inspection in NC is the poor and lazy inspector's way to accomplish almost nothing.

I'm in NC, also, but fortunately not in one of the counties that requires the OBDII scan (yet?). In my county, the cost is only $9.10, and is really a joke. Safety inspection? I'm pretty sure that you could get a ham sandwich passed through the state "safety inspection" if you tried.

Yea we have 7 years before the first test but the state collects a smog fee each year for doing nothing.

I am having a very similar problem with my 05 GT. The car has been inspected 4 times and failed each time. No Engine light on either btw. It comes back as unsupported on the OBD test. I have driven , driven and driven the car. Pete who did the tune has been very helpful as well SCT trying to rewrite for a correct tune. Scary part is if I do not come up with a solution, it's a parked car for the summer.

I think the original poster is talking about completing what Ford calls a "drive cycle". Until a drive cycle is completed, DTC P1000 will remain set (MIL will remain off). This alerts the tech that the car is not ready for emissions testing.
