You guys don't really thin FoMoCo is going to come out with a TSB to install that bar they left off for the last 3 years do you?
I wouldn't hold my breath My 10 years and my wife's 17 at a Ford Dealer has shown me if they can get away with doing nothing, even though there's a possible fix, they will do nothing.
I accept when buying one of these products that I'll have to make it right. Just like I had to do with my 2000 F250 diesel and the faulty fuel system.
Time to go to the late model junkyards and grab some convert bars off some cars it appears

Update guys. I just checked our inventory control system and the 8R3Z-18183-B is now available for your dealer to get on a daily basis. Some dealers have already rec'd their orders. If you had the suspension noise, please make sure that you post the results after the repair with the new part here for us to see.
Thanks

I'd like to add my 2 cents here. IMO, everyone who drives an 05 to 07 a coupe up through April of this year should go in and get the updated upper strut mounts or "brackets" as Ford parts calls them.
You might have trouble getting them installed under warranty if your car doesn't have any symptoms but the new brackets are much improved from what Bascho says. So,,,,,,,,,,,go for it!
I believe vehicles released after April 07 come stock with the updated parts. They are indeed coming out with cross members already installed now since April.
Unfortunately anyone missing the cross member will have to buy and pay to have it installed or you can make your own like I and a couple others did. It's a piece of cake to make with some simple shop and hand tools!
It does offer better handling and ride characteristics.
Cool?
Cool! ;-)
Thank God the wait is finally over!
Have a great weekend everybody!
Just to add my .02, I had the clunk and I was told by a shop that it was the swaybar link. They tightened it up, but the clunk came back. After breaking one of my strut mount bolts, I decided to get the heavy duty ones from StangSuspension.com. They are just like the Steeda ones, but are about 70 bucks cheaper. Threw those on, and put locktite on EVERY bolt in that area, including the swaybar link, and voila! Clunk is gone. Car is quiet as a mouse in respect to that issue. I highly recommend the heavy duty mounts. You can also adjust camber up to a degree with them too. Pretty simple to install also. You can get a pair here:
There are Steeda ones on fleabay for $56 too. (I prefer the black over the red).
That's a good question. Can anyone tell me where the Ford part mounts on the converts?
I think I am going to head up to the local FoMoCo stealer in a bit and look under a car. If it serves the same purpose, I'll spend the $120 (2 cars) and save the grief of the dealer, except for the upper mounts my wife needs on her car. I need Steeda units for my abuse and for camber adjustment.

Brought my 2006 GT into the dealer today with a printout of this thread. When I first talked to them about this on the phone prior to bringing the car in, I got the expected push back about how they would have to road test the car for the problem, and all that. But they have the car now, and have ordered the new strut mounting parts. Should be installed Tuesday. I'll let you know what happens. I really like this car, but the clunking noise really spoils it. Sure hope this fixes it.
Part is installed - clunking sound completely gone

Yep, just picked up my car from the dealer. The new strut mounts were installed under the warranty. The noise is completely gone. What a difference. The GT rides as good as it looks now. No noise over small bumps at low speeds, no noise over speed bumps. The stock suspension always felt solid, yet not harsh. Now that the noise is gone, I can really appreciate it. Some guys said they just got use to the noise, but it always ticked me off. I'm in love with the GT all over again.
This is starting to get confusing. Are we talking about strut mounts, or an A arm brace as a fix? I've replaced the strut mounts, checked the sway bar links, and added the brace, and still this P.O.S. is just as noisey. The dealer claims they can't find anything wrong, so they're in no hurry to fix it. I really like the car, but it is getting harder to put up with Ford's crappy engineering and service.

You're right, it's the bracket I'm referring to, part # 8R3Z-18183-B. The receipt from the dealer also calls it a bracket.
Is this only for 2006 models or is it the same P.I.T.A$$ slow speed clunk-pop many 2005 owners had or have?
My '07 has the same noise. The dealer tech says he can't hear anything abnormal (he is obviously deaf). They won't warranty the brace, but will gladly sell me one. I ordered a brace from BMR instead. Hope that fixes it.

I put that part # on a few OEM Ford part sites and couldn't find it. What's the part from BMR? THX!
