Hi I am new to this forum. I own a 2005 gt and my question is does any one on here have any real info on the advantages of an X pipe vs the factory H. I have read all the manufactures claim to fame i am looking for real info from some one who has done the mod. Thanks.

Well, I don't have an X pipe, but I will be installing one this weekend if that counts for anything.

The general consensus is that the X will provide a raspier exhaust note over the deeper H pipe. I think you may see a couple more hp with the X, but nothing dramatic. Basically boils down to how you want the exhaust to sound.

Also, I'm sure since you live in our wonderful state of CA, that you are aware of the smog laws. Just something to consider when hooking up the ride. I'll likely get screwed in a few years with the long-tubes I'm putting in this weekend, but whatever. I'll figure it out when the time gets here.

I will soon have the car regesterd in arkansas so i will now fall under the smog laws.

You'll get about 5 hp over an H but the sound just isn't the same. I've run 3 different Xs and 2 different Hs. I'm presently running an O/R X but I prefer the sound of the H.

BTW I think i may have seen your car after looking at the photo of it. I am stationed on north island.

Maybe. I work over in Pt. Loma, and stay in Mission Valley. I roam the overpriced hills of La Jolla from time to time as well. I haven't seen too many Sonic Blue GT's out here. Maybe 3? 4 if you count Don's, but I've never seen his. I've only heard of the legend....

Back to the original topic, you can check out the sound clips in the 2005+ Talk section. Some are decent, some aren't. Not the best way to judge how your car could sound, but it's a start.

Thew X gives mor hp at the high RPM like 5 horses or so like stl says, with a high pitched sound. THe H pipe is great for a low pitched ruimble sound.
