Do you have this lag? I'm woundering if its a early year problem. I don't have any lag.
I see your wife has added some insurance to the possabable end to your mods, in the trunk
Although I can't be certain now but I'm pretty sure I DID have a lag before the 93 tune but I know I don't have one now. The slightest bit of pressure on the gas pedal throws my head back to the headrest.
FWIW I noticed something this morning. If I drive barefoot and I use just my big toe to push the gas pedal (from the very bottom of the pedal) then there is SERIOUS lag. However, if I have shoes on then my foot is much higher up on the pedal b/c it's sitting on my heel and I'm actually depressing the pedal from the top instead of the bottom. -When I do that, I do not detect any lag at all. -Anyone else notice this?
Its what is know as mechanical advantage. the longer a leaver is the more sensitive it is to move.
My point is that some people claim to have the dead space and other's don't. I'm wondering if the discrepancy can be explained by one's foot position on the pedal??

I did do the "add some 3m thick sticky tape mod". It seemed to help with the dead spot. I could measure about 1/8" dead pedal. And for now it does not seem as bad. I do think im still going to adjust the pedal on the inside, when i have some time to look at it.
But i still think some of the lag comes in to play with the stock tune. Im still slacking on purchasing a tuner, but i hear great things about throttle response post tuner.

Basically, the cover has some slop in how it's bolted on. If you loosen the screws and shift the cover in the right direction, you eliminate the gap in the potentiometer action.
This is my first time in a forum and this hesitation is the very reason I have registered and Im really liking it. Think I will try the tape first simply because of the time involved. I can hardly believe it will be so simple to fix such a aggrevating problem, guess working on the ole 66 Stang isnt easier after all. Thanks for making my first visit so worthwhile.
And a couple guys have found two different ways to achieve the same results without having to bend anything. See posts #36 and #60 of this thread: Outstanding Throttle Response write up... - WWW.S197FORUM.COM[/quote]
Thanks for the link, I used the shim with 2 sided tape idea but added a guitar pick cut to spread the load. It works great.
