Has anyone changed to 4 valve heads on the S197 Mustang GT? I've decided to stay NA, so every little bit will help. I was contemplating changing my heads from 3 Valves to 4 Valves. If anyone has done this before or if it isn't practical I'd really like to hear from you. Thanks guys and gals.

The 3 valve heads flow as good as the 4 valve heads. Not much to be gained.

Dang, well worth a try to investigate. Guess I'll stick with some improved heads and a port polish.

All the 3V heads are from the same cast. Just ported differently.

FRPP and Livernois both use the Ford cast heads. I'm running the FRPP version with stage 3 cams.

Which 4 valve heads? There are 3 different versions including the GT heads. The GT heads should be better than the 3 valve heads.

That would be a big project, very costly for little or no gain.
You cant just slap on 4 valve heads. You would need cams, timing chain,PCM & wiring harness changes. Not to mention custom headers.

Natrurally aspirated is not a good choice on the 4.6 3-valve.
FI is really the best way to make power on 281 cubes.

STLWagon, you're Normally Aspirated right? How much power are you putting down with all your mods? I've always built engines to run Normally Aspirated. Nothing more fun than smoking a Forced Induction car. My 67 Mustang puts down 546hp and 550lbs torque to the ground. That's with no NOS or boost. Nothing like a stroked 408 Windsor
