Do what you like its your car. I put red LED's at my hood vents to highlight the supercharger at night during shows. They dont move like the nightrider but I wired them to a switch so I can turn them off and on. Heres a couple of pics, not very good, only had a cheap point and shoot at the time.

I'm bought a kit for my car so I can put it in my hood scoop, the scoop came stock with the car. The scoop on my car is not active. I think it would be cool if you do whatever you want to your mustang, thats why we have freedom of speech, choice and most definitely taste. Hope this helps you out in the quest getting yout light bar.

Do not take pictures with any ol' camera. All they do is brighten the effects of the LEDs. I had second thoughts about posting my lights on my louvered windows. All pictures did not do them justice. They look so ricey.... Until I got a great camera that got close to the subtleness of the effects.
