If you go to Google Earth and look at Qualcomm Stadium, you can see where the RaceLegal drags are held, southwest corner of the property. If you'd been there last night (Friday 11 Jan 2008), you'd have seen a lovely Blue GT mercilessly whup an even more lovely black convertible ...

The track was so slick even a 195 RWHP V6 just sat and spun that one rear wheel. Averaged a few tenths higher 60-ft and ET all night long. I thought it was my 100-mile-old new tires, but I'll accept testimony to the contrary.

Off Thread: I must have come to JBA after you left. Just got in under the wire for reduced-cost dyno pulls, finished after sundown. When I get my scanner back in action I'll post scans in your "Dyno Virgin" thread. For now, he wrung a 194.6 RWHP, 226 TQ out of a 4.0 with K&N drop-in filter and Ford Racing GTA single axle-back, B@M@chips 91 Performance tune.

Do they use VHT on there track at all? There is no way though with street tires you will ever hook up. I would get a set of cheap weld racing wheels of of Ebay doesnt have have to be brand new and just put a set of slicks on them. You can find the wheels for 80$ a piece used. Then just get some good tires on them. It will make the world of difference. Especially if your only using them for the track.

Yeah, I got there (JBA) real early. I was actually the first guy to go. Not sure how that happened, but I wasn't complaining. Yeah, that track just wasn't really good for street tires. Won't be making that mistake again if I can help it.

I also wonder...is it best to floor it and through it into first. Or first gear then floor it?

If you have an Auto put it in drive, turn traction control off, turn overdrive off, and on third yellow GO.

Definitely have to have slicks or a good track for that. I did that on my first pass and almost hit the wall because I was sliding so badly. I left the T/C on for the rest of the night.

Out here it's sponsored by the police dept. to keep kids from racing on the street. It was $30 to race and another $20 to rent a helmet if you didn't have one. You could have a passenger, but they had to cough up $30 as well. Otherwise it was $8 to watch. I didn't think it was too bad. I'd rather pay $50 and drive my car as fast as I want as opposed to paying $1K+ and having it impounded or crushed.
