Default Headrests help please

OK, i want to replace my headrests as I don't like the fact that they lean forward. It makes me have to recline the seat back more so my head is at a comfortable position. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of headrests that are more straight? I could always just remove the headrests but don't want to do that; safety reasons.

thanks in advance

Can you just raise the headrests higher so that your head sits near the bottom of the rest? I just put mine up a couple notches and it cups my head just fine.

I haven't seen replacements anywhere. I did see one fella that was considering heating and bending the rods. Don't know if he ever did that or not.

I think that the headrests were designed with functionality and looks in mind more than comfort. They sure as heck look cool, and they perform well. They were designed to support your head snapping back from a hard acceleration and cusion you so you don't get whiplash.

That's all well and good, for ordinary driving, but put on a modern Snell-approved helmet, and you'll find yourself looking at the horn button. I haven't tried it yet, but I understand you can press a pin in the base of a headrest and remove it entirely. That should make it possible to drive with a helmet on and not have to recline the seat to be able to see out ...

I'd also like to remove them for photography sessions. I think they look goofy, sticking up over the lovely convertible profile.

When I wear my helmet in the car I raise the headrest to it's second highest setting and the helmet tucks right in. If you remove the headrest while dragging, you're just begging for a broken neck if you get up close and personal with the wall. I'm 5'10" and have no problems. My dad and his 07 Mustang is 6'2" with no problems. Are you 6'10" or something?

Nope, but I like to drive more straight up than reclined. If i set the seat to just a couple clicks reclined, and lift the headrest all the way up, I still feel as if my head is forced downward. I then need to recline the seat more which isn't how I like to drive. Maybe I'll find a metal shop that is willing to see if the rails can be heated and bent a little; I don't know. I noticed the same thing on a Subaru Impreza but they had better headrests on the WRX so Ford isn't the only mfr forcing you to look down because of the headrest

Default Headrests

I have read on another forum where some have taken their headrestrs out and installed them backwards. This might solve your problem while still offering some degree of protection against whiplash.

I never really thought about them leaning forward. Heck, I don't rest my head when I am driving but that's probably because I am short.

Yea me too, and I actually think the headrests look pretty good, I was looking at some ones with LCD screens for a swap later down the road, but they were all hideous comapred to what was there
