"it would be more like calling a pitbull a bulldog. and who cars what you call it ist still the same car."
Ah, OK, A Bitbull is not a Bulldog, By the way.
WhaT I call it, is what Ford Calls it, A Shelby GT 500. And who cares what you call it, it's still NOT a Cobra.

i know a pitbull isnt a bulldog my point was that its still a freaking dog, and if you couldnt figure out what i meant by this ill explain. its close enough to being a cobra it dosent matter what you call it, its still a cobra at heart and ford put the cobra emblems on the car not some v-6 owners that wish they could afford one, so obviosly ford wanted you to belive it was one, who knows maybe they forgot to add the word cobra in the freaking name. im glad you turned this into an imature pissing contest over a stupid lable
Well the fact that the very first Cobra that was made was in 93 all the others before it were NOT Cobra's but Shelby's with Cobra's for badging to indicate that it was a Shelby over a GT.
SVT Created the Cobra and Shelby Created the GT500 and GT350 and all the other special edition cars that are out there as well before 93. SVT has rights to the Name Cobra as Shebly has Rights to the name GT500.
Shelby got with SVT to help create the GT500 but it is not an SVT Cobra like the earlier Terminator.
I agree the Vette is a completely different style of car. I still look forward to the ZR1 coming out and finding that poor rich guy driving it down the road when he pulls up next to my little mustang GT
I agree with the Nazi. If it don't say COBRA, it ain't a COBRA. I saw a guy with a pony grille, snakes on the side and a GT logo on the rear. I was like, make up your mind. What is it?
For apparent simplicity, (and likely for marketing reasons), many reference the GT500's as Cobras. Not the worst thing in the world, but it isn't an accurate statment nevertheless.
As far as the Mustang/Vette comparison, that is just stupid in itself. There just isn't one. Vettes are for guys with a lot of money who are going through a midlife crisis. Stangs are for everyone. They aren't in the same power class, weight class, looks class (Stang wins that battle any day), affordability class, ability-to-pick-up-chicks class, etc.
That POS Shelby can rot for all I care. Him and his overpriced vechicles.
sdlewis1986 You turned this into a immature pissing contest , as you called it, by your statement "and who cars what you call it" Which was the FIRST negative statement directed to ME.
And you got to be kidding, Ford FORGOT to put Cobra on the GT 500?
That is funny. It's not on there because it's NOT a cobra.
Were is your sarcastic talk to tact_out. He just said the same thing I did only in a little different words.

The prices have really diverged over the years. In the 60s they were much closer in price.
I really dont care what people call it. I have called it a Cobra many times but the facts state what I said and if you talk to any die hard 93-04 cobra guys and call a GT500 a cobra then your pissing contest will turn into a sh!ting contest because those guys have way to much pride in those years of cars and hate when you refer to any other car as a Cobra if it was not between those years.

I would still rather have a 43,000$ GT500 or what ever they go for MSRP then a 60,000$ ZO6... Shot I would rather have a WS6 then a Z06 I just like the raw power of a muscle car.
The vette just screams bomber jacket and a guy named Biff.

ok i see why this got so heated im sry, i wasnt sayin who cares what YOU call it, i was tring to say it really dosent matter what anyone calls it because its a very nice car and i would be proud to own one. i was really just kidding when i said ford forgot to call it cobra. the real reason it has the cobra embloms is because svt helped build it, so shelby got to name it and svt put the embloms on fair enough right, (my opinion only). my real argument was that the cars should Not be compared Vette vs GT500
also the reason why i was posting to what you said and not tact_out is because you found the need to point out a minor mistake and turn this whole thread about it. and again my point wasnt the the car is a cobra its that it was close enough and if you have one you can call it what ever you want to. so no hard fellings and im sry if i misunderstood what you were tring to say

I agree totally... The Z06 is approaching foreign sports car status.
