I'm not too crazy with the stock Mustang emblem on the center of the steering wheel. I've looked around (unsuccessfully) for someone making/selling different "buttons"/centers. Anyone ever looked into swapping it out?

My horn button emblem came down with "chicken pox" When I took it in, they said the entire driver's side airbag would need to be replaced to change it out. I just left it as is.

You're not the first to have complained about this.
1) Dress up in full padding (think the suit they always show when they are demonstrating the effectiveness of a K-9 unit on the news)
2) Using proper tools, apply force on the center cap (towards the driver seat and away from the steering column)
3) Close eyes and hold breath
(Don't really do this)

Mine is also showing signs of "chicken pox"...a few very small white spots on the chrome portion of the pony itself...I've tried to get them off, but to no avail. Guess, Ford is using a cheap process to manufacture them...surprise, surprise...really weird.
the "chicken pox" are little clear bubbles that formed in the outer layer of the cheap-a$$ plastic coating the covers the emblem. the bubbles seem to mainly want to form over the chrome colored areas of the tri bar and pony. my 06 f150 has the same bubbles on the blue oval emblem on the steering wheel, mainly visible over the chrome Ford lettering and ring. dealer told me they believed it to be caused from the heat inside a car on a hot day. i got both my 06 f150 and 06 GT in dec of 05 and noticed bubbles on both of them the following July. so it probably is the heat. and dont bother letting them replace your airbag to correct this... itll just do it again in a few months...
im also open to replacement ideas if anyone has any....
Just found this thread and my 2006 has the POX too Problem is I am in the UK and there is no such thing as warranty here. I have been told I have to replace the whole airbag!!! which is strange since I can easily remove the emblem and refit it so I think it is a complete waste of money fitting a $1000 air bag for a 5 cents emblem.
Interesting... I'll chime with my chicken pox steering wheel emblem, too. For those of you lucky enough to have a clean one, it basically looks like someone sneezed on the pony.
I don't remembering it coming like that, but I just noticed it one day. I'll subscribe to GTNOS' sun theory!
