When I get my car back I will be required to have a cage to run the 1/4 mile. I have an appointment for have a cage installed in 3 weeks, but here is my dilemma. When running on the race tune I will be using C16 which is around 13.50 a gallon. So driving to the track would be quite expensive, not to mention the race tune is a open loop tune, so the car won't be very streetable.
If I purchase a trailer I won't have the cash for the cage so while I can trailer the car there saving the C16 and less wear and tear on the car, I won't be able to run a full 1/4 mile (I'd have to let up at the 1/8 or 1000') mark and I can't bracket race.
My only other option is have my wife or someone drive my truck to the track to carry the fuel and other tools and I drive the car to the track with very little 93 octane gas and fill up with C16 once I get to the track.
I could pay cash for the cage and put the trailer on credit, but I hate putting anything dealing with my car on credit. What should I do?
On current tune (which I will still have an option to use) the best I've run is 11.3. They sometimes let me get away with it. I can turn the boost down and probably be at the 11.5 mark. I rented a uhau trailer to take the car to evo. it was a pain to get the car on and I had to climb out the window. I'm not a small guy, (6'0 235 with back issues). LOL to get out of the car I had to go out face forward, doing a handstand on the trailer fender and bring my legs out. I know my neighbors were like WTF is he doing?
The trailer is a good investment. You could drive to the track with just a little gas and run it out at the track ,then fill up with the C16 retune and run her. I know it a pain in the rump. Why does all this cost so much money?
