Default FYI: "cooling/air conditioning seat" product available

For those who are interested in an aftermarket product that will "cool/air condition" your seats WHILE you are running an errand or up to an hour in advance of using your seat, I discovered a product from a company called No Cord, based in VA ( http://www.nocord.com ) .

The company makes a number of products including hat it calls the SummerSeat ( http://www.nocord.com/SummerSeatBL.jpg ), which comes in thre separate colors, including beige, grey and black.

The product was favorably reviewed by the Auto Channel when it first appeared in 2007(see http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2007/01/05/033148.html ) and is described by the company as follows:

Beat the heat all summer with the deluxe 12-volt self-cooling seat cushion from Nocord. Plugs easily into your vehicle's lighter socket. Works with or without air-conditioning to keep you comfortable on even the hottest driving days. The secret of the SummerSeat™ lies in it’s ability to circulate air through the hundreds of tiny spaces in the Microfiber and mesh materials. Instead of pockets of hot air turning your car into a sauna, the SummerSeat™ puts a breezy, breathable layer between your body and your car's upholstery, leather or vinyl. No more roasting in traffic. The SummerSeat™ attaches securely with a clip-on fastening system that fits most cars, trucks, SUVs and RVs. Adjust the flow of air with a personal temperature controller that features a 60-minute automatic shut-off to prevent drained batteries.

No Cord sells the product for $69.95 but after a brief search I found the product for $55.00 ( http://www.comforthouse.com/summerseat.html ).

Exactly. Unfortunately, I believe it may only come in one size...

My understanding is that there's a special order accessory available for separate purchase through the manufacturer that allows the seat to use an auxiliary thermocouple to convert the heat from your a** into an electric pulse which is stored in a battery which can be switched on for in-town driving (depending on how "hot" the a** sitting in the seat is of course).

Does it have a pickup tube to recycle the un-wanted gasss that seems to be deposited on and through the drivers seat? That gas has got to be worth 50 hp

I believe it has an option to add that, with a "pick-up tube" going from the seat to the PCV driver's side tubing.

That's as plausible as Al Gore's plan for energy dependency and available right now!

...which brings up the question on it's resistance to staining.

Beaded seat cushions use convection cooling and allow 'puckering' at high speeds.

Urban Dictionary: pucker factor

I'll have to check with the company about this but it's my understanding that the product can be treated with ScotchGuard to prevent staining in the event of a "negative" pucker factor situation.
