Default Powered By Ford Emblems

I am very into the powered by ford emblems on the shelby gt mustangs. My question is, how come they are so expensive?! What is the story behind these badges and why are they so pricey?! I do not want to buy knockoffs because they look so horrible. Anybody know where I can find actual powered by ford emblems for a good price?

i believe these are what your talking about
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...T/IMG_2536.jpg

unless you want to bribe a shelby gt owner to give you his, or empty your wallet on ebay, then your screwed.

they are a shelby specific piece, meaning they are made and sold for owners of a shelby. you have to prove ownership of a shelby gt to recieve these. (believe me, i tried)

the ones popping up on ebay are always going for $200+ a pop

as for the knockoffs, i havent heard of it. but they do have the originals for sell. the ones from the 60's stangs and 427 cobra's

I stopped by my local ford place and saw those on a new shelby and asked the salesman if i could buy those to put on my foxbody. He said that they do not sell them as a part and he does not know where i could get them from....Just trying to let you know before you go ask. Dont know where any cheap ones are. Only ones i found were on ebay for like $325.

That's just insane. I wonder why the price is so high. But the knockoffs I were talking about must be the ones from the 60s like you showed me. I just am not to thrlled with how they look. Anybody else have any ideas on where to get them for a good price thats not over 200+

i had a thought..but its a long shot. A very long shot.

if you have friends on here..ask them for help. several shelby owners are floating around on here..if you trust them, and if they agree to it, they can take off their old ones and give them to you. then they can buy a new pair and have the appropriate paperwork to get approved for the part...you would need to pay the person for the new parts & shipping, as well as for their time and trouble... it can be a bit pricey this way also, but im sure its cheaper than $250-$350 ebay prices......like i said..its a long shot.

other than that, the only thing i can think of is check the classifieds (of several mustang forums). if shelby owners are aware of the value of that badge, some of them may be selling them for a profit and buying replacements. (one again..pricey, but cheaper than ebay)

either way..good luck. if you do find a place to get these..let me know. ive tried to get these for over 4 months

and i think hotshot was talking about the new tr-bars. they are nice..they come from ford, cdc, and a few other companies. they fit in the stock gt emblem mounting holes also!

One problem with removing the orginals and claiming they were stolen is that the SGT owner would have to file a false police report, as SAI will not sell replacements unless you send a copy of the report. The SGT owner would have to be a VERY close friend.

Go to your local Ford dealer, locate a Shelby and write down the VIN and year. Call your Ford parts person and place order using VIN. I paid 59.95 for both. May dealer Walker Ford had no issues what so ever...........no question either. Once I saw the E-Bay price, I purchased a 2nd pair and sold them for 175.00 plus shipping.
