Default S197 Rear Mount STS turbo system

Is anyone here running this rear mount turbo system, they sure sound pretty wicked. Im just not so sure of the turbos being behind the back tires. What about the quality of the systems are they really that great they should be for the price lol. How hard is the system to install? Im stuck i cant make my mind up between a supercharger or turbo. i know alot of you will probally tell me to supercharge before turbo lol which one would really better?

im almost to mindboggled to type after looking at those photos....

ive never seen or heard of anything like that. as far as concerns, the only thing i saw that i just absolutely dont like is that the air intake for the turbos is not only under the car, where i would think breathing would be more limited, but is right by the back tires and right where all kinds of road debris will hit it as it flys off the tires. of course, i live on a dirt / gravel road, so this is a BIG concern to me. i would imagine one would be cleaning those cone filters quite frequently, and i could see a nicely sized rock flung up at the right speed punching a hole in the filter and all kinds of garbage going down the intake...

on another note, i simply have the question of why?

why is that system designed like that? is that the only way to fit a twin turbo system on an s197 or is there supposed to be more efficiency there, or is it a "sleeper" turbo system so no one sees it, or what?

i wouldnt buy it do to the above concerns....and it looks like a plumbing nightmare.

i agree completely imagine getting stuck in the rain lol you would be completely screwed. im not really sure why they are designed this way. did you watch the vids of the turbos on the mustang?

they had to have addressed those issues though, don't you think? I mean if you are going to design and market a production turbo system, SOMEONE has asked them the questions you asked... or so i would hope!

i think i read somewhere awhile back that they do make some kind of shield or something to protect the intake from getting damaged but im not sure about the sucking up water part but i dont drive my car when there rain in the forcast anyways......hopefully someone that has this setup will run along this thread and tell me there 2 cents about it from experience.........

i think one benifit is no heat soak. i read one time that the install was no to bad as running the pipes was easy and they had no problems. i would not get one just because there is not enough people to chime in about it.

well ****, with whipple and other s/c kits having a price increase you can get Twin turbo setup for less! I live in So Cal so rain isn't a big issue, but i certainly wouldn't want to limit my car to only perfect days (which is 364 days a year here- LOL)

my sentiments exactly.... let someone else road test it first!!! then if they are not having problems sucking up water or trash, then I might consider it. as far as no heat soak, yeah, that would be a benefit, but what about the negative air pressure that is under a car as it is moving at speed? wonder how that would affect air flow into the intake? especially on a lowered car the only real benefit i see is you could make it a sleeper. boy that would sure be a surprise to someone who was acting a fool.....
