Default Thinking about trading in

my current car is a 95 GT Auto (little done to it)
but about a week ago i drove my brothers 99 cobra...
and wow i needed some more power. and the fun of driving the manual and the power made me almost hate my car.

Im thinking about trading in my car and payin a lil extra for a 05 GT
i dont know a lot about the newer ones

its a 5 speed manual and red with grey bullets
they want like 16 or 17k and it has 15,000 miles on it

At first i thought about going for a ls1 or lt1 but they are so hard to find good deals. they are usually over priced with many miles.

so would it be worth the extra cash? are they as powerful as they say?
i've only driven my dad's 07 GT (automatic)
and would a 05 be a big power step up from my car?

(this was typed a little sloppy, sorry)

opinions or whatever would be nice

It would be a significant increase in power plus all kinds of mods available. I think that's a pretty decent price for 15000 miles.

Don't sell your 95 unless you have to. It's always smarter to keep a car until it dies. AND NEVER TRADE IN A CAR! The dealer doesn't want your car. It's nothing personal, they sell cars not collect them.

BTW, $16k for a 05 w/ 15k miles doesn't sound too bad. Get'em under $15k with everything included and do it!

+1) I would never trade your 95 in let alone any older year. You might as well give it to someone for free because the dealer will give you nothing basicly. You'll get a better amount of cash selling it your self vs. a dealer because they still have to make money on your car. Is your 95 paid for? If so just keep it for now and buy the new one. the dealer might give you $3,000 for your car tops.
You wont see much differance in the payments if you have or havent traded it in. It would lessen your payment by 25 or so dollars.

6,500 is a good price I think 8,000 is a little to high. For 10,000 You could get a 95-96 cobra. As for the rims put'em on! As long as you like it who cares! But I think it would look fine.

Jaron, I did not take the time to look at NADA.com and KBB.com to see what the value of your car is in your areas. You might want to do that before making a move.
Also, I thknk I remember you had a lot of flood conditions in your area this year. I know you will check, but just a reminder to have the car really looked at to be sure you do not receive "a gift from the flood".

If you have the 95 R rims already and they are made for a SN95 then you will need spacers for the wheels to work right on a S197. Spacers are never a good idea, IMO, for anything other than a show car that never gets driven. Check American Muscle's website. Their are some pics of s197s running chrome 5 spokes similar to the Rs. (they actually sell the Rs to fit a s197 but there's no pics) Also, IMO, the Rs are too skinny for a s197.

honestly, for a little more dough like 22k you could be in the ballpark for a brand new GT. But i would be surprised if your car fetched anything over $5,000. If it has a lot of miles on it, is a V8, car dealer do NOT want it. You will have to find a private party that wants to pony up the cash for it.

Do it, you won't be disappointed.

I'd like to have my old Mustang back sometimes but I'm totally happy with the situation. I'm sure you will make someones year with the sell of your car.
