Question 2005 Mustang GT Air Filter

I have a K&N Air Filter on my car and I have just reached the 30K mileage mark and I am thinking that I should clean it out. I have owned my car for a little over a year and haven't cleaned it yet. I was wondering what is the best way to go about cleaning it out? Is this something that I can/should do myself? Thanks

Get a K&N cleaning/re-oiling kit from Autozone or Pepboys.

I know you said you want to clean it, but the re-oiling can still draw droplets into your engine over time, causing the kind of issues you're trying to avoid. That's one of the reasons I changed to an AEM nano-filter: it doesn't need oiling/is easily cleaned/doesn't risk anythink getting into your engine like other filters do.
