I finally got my `69-`70 Mach 1 Mustang reproduction scoop today, and I feel a bit like a 16 yr old girl the day after a party where she got drunk and the football team had their way with her...
I spent $130 for a fiberglass pile of excretement that needs hours of prep to make it even barely adequate to bolt onto a car.
I stopped by a body shop supply store after I got the scoop because I needed some special filler primer to fix all of the imperfections. I showed it to them and they were like, "dang, that's rough..."
I've already gone over it with 320 think I've fixed most of the surface issues, but the mounting edge that contacts the hood is wavier than the dang Atlantic!!
What's bad is that it's not like it was packaged improperly, or damaged, or even one or two imperfections that might have been missed. The whole thing was of shoddy quality.
Had I known that I would end up spending that much for a part that will take hours to make perfect, I would have just bought an original Ford part that was perfect for $50 or less more...
I know I should call CJ Pony parts and give them the chance to make it right, but I've already wasted so much time and money on it. I can't believe that they would sell such a crappy product to begin with.
Won't be taking any more chances with them...
Pictures really don't show the numerous problems...

Man, that's awful. I just ordered my Roush scoop -PAINTED from HubcapsPlus today. I didn't want to have to mess with any of what you're going through right now.
I think you just got a lemon. Have you tried contacting them about the issue? Personally, i would have sent it back ASAP
I know you are upset but bashing them isn't going to solve anything. It will make you feel better though.
Have to agree with hotshot on this one. Is the part actually made by CJ Pony parts or are they just a distributor for the part? If it's the later, it's possible that the scoop was in the original packaging from the manufacturer and CJPP put a shipping label on it and sent it to you. Bad on CJPP for not checking the part then. However, I'm pretty sure they would have made it right had you contacted them. I've ordered quite a bit from them and haven't had any issues.

I just spent the last 2 hours sanding and prepping it, spraying filler primer on it, and trying to get a decent coat of paint on it.
I got orange peel issues the first coat, then coverage issues, and I finally ran out of Sonic Blue trying to wet sand and respray it a few times.
I finally gave up and just sprayed it satin black and will have to wait until I get some more blue.
I was right, though; that style of scoop really looks good on the S197
As for the quality issues; CJ did not make the part, nor did they repackage it. They just got it from the manufacturer; DII GT Restoration Parts, a subsidiary of Dynacorp.com and sold the POS to me.
I tried looking up the manufacturer on the web and had no luck. My search ended up finding web sites either in French or ones trying to download viruses...

Well at least it sounds like you have the skills to make it right. I'm sure it will come out nice for you. Be sure to post a pic of the finished product.

If CJPP didn't make it, don't blame them. A lot of times, they don't even open the boxes. I had a similar problem with Brenspeed and my transmission pan. It didn't come with a provision for a dipstick. Initially, I was pretty mad, but I called them and they told me that they get the parts from the manufacturer and don't even open the boxes. But they did offer to fix it, which was a good thing.
I know you are mad, and rightfully so, but just step back and calm down. It will work out in the long run.
Typically, CJPP is a reputable place to deal with. I would have contacted them right away. It might still be worth calling, though.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
After I cut the hole for the scoop, I had a bunch of adhesive from the duct tape get on the hood (put duct tape on the bottom of the jigsaw to prevent paint from getting scratched).
I grabbed some adhesive remover and a rag and scrubbed the adhesive off, then waxed the area.
I then mounted the scoop on and to my horror, I apparently pushed too hard getting the adhesive off and I now have waves in the metal all around the scoop...
So, I now have to take the car to the actual professionals and see if they can fix my mess. I'm hoping that they will just replace the whole hood and respray it.
That way, I can have them replace the factory hood with an aftermarket hood and I'll just pay the difference... Sometimes it pays to be an insurance claims expert...
Yes, insurance does cover stupidity...
