I'm getting conflicting answers to what size and what type and what brand of tire
to use at the track. I'm having a turbo installed hopefully this week, I have a TCI converter and trans and I'm switching to 373 gears in the rear. I'm hoping for in the neighborhood of 450 rear wheel horse. The install and dyno tune will be at Tillman's so I'm looking to get the best tire for the track when the car is done.
Hoping for 11's. I'd like to mount them on my factory 17 inch wheels. Any help on the size and brand would be appreciated, tire pressure etc...
no just for the track, atco is nearby just want to hook up with the new trans and tuner the car won't hook up at a light add a turbo and I,ll be doing 180s
I cut low 1.5s with the M&Hs with a manual tranny. I just installed a MSD Launchmaster 2 step. So now I will be launching with a few pounds of boost. Well's see how they hook then.
I'll be getting rid of this when I get my Bogarts and slicks.
325's on a 9 inch rim? any issues with clearance? Are they 17 inch rims, could you send me some photos from the rear? I might go with those in the spring or when i wear out the 275's.

No more Nitrous all motor now.Don't ask.
I run the m&h racemaster drag radial 275/50/17 on a 9 inch bullit rim. you might be able to put it on a stock 8 inch rim. They work real well for me!
The M&H 275s fit an 8" wheel perfectly.

Why not? The M&H 325/45-17 is what I run all the time on the street. IMO, they are 10x safer than a traditional street tire at higher power levels. When I had Nittos, my car would go completely sideways if I nailed the throttle at 30 or 40 mph. With the M&H DRs, the car handles sooooo much better. Of course, I'm not into corner carving. either.

The M&H 325/45-17 has a tread width of 10.3" and fit perfect on a 17x9 wheel (the 275s are 8.8"). These pics were taken last week, and show the 325/45-17s on 17x9 wheels.

Agree with everyone else, for track use M&H are pretty good at hooking up.

On dry roads there fine. Wet roads are the problem.
Granted, we don't see much rain here in SoCal, but I don't find them any more of an issue in the wet than a standard street radial. I just take it easy and drive smat.
