never turn tcs off unless its july or august and a sunny day.... what can i say... lower mainland BC you never know when the rain is going to trickle down and with tcs off..... its only a matter off time before you forget to turn it back on and oops happens! so i just leave it on... but i didn't know turning tcs off will get rid of some of the wheel hop on heavy acceleration from resting.... interesting.
+1 to that. I had it off in the rain the other day and almost lost it. I wasn't even going that fast. Making a pass on a 4 lane and when I came back over the wheels let loose. And that was doing 45 MPH in 4th gear. Yeah this car likes to remind you whose in charge from time to time. But damn its fun on dry pavement.

I agree with the TCS on for rain/corners,etc. I routinely turn it off upon starting any other time. I don't think the car is as much fun to drive when it rains except watching it bead up. I read stories of chewed-up rotors when people leave it on during perids of "Spirited Acceleration" .
how much does traction control actualy limit the engine? i rarely turn it off as theres no room to mess around where i live.
Oh, it doesn't just limit the engine, it kills it. I don't mean "kills" like "hurts" I mean it stops the engine from making power, until your back tires get under control. Also the anitlock kicks in to further slow the tires.
Try revving first gear to 3,000 and pop the clutch. You will feel the tires start to spin then everything stops, even though the gas pedal is down. Then TCS lights up on the dash. Once it turns off again, your tires spin again, then TCS ruins your fun again... lather rinse repeat. Then you know why they are called "Mustangs".
Untamed horses do not come with TCS, in the wild. It ain't natural.
