Default New LED interior lighting

With some spare time today I was finally able to complete one of my projects. Front and back under dash and under seat LED lighting. They are hooked to the map lights on the top so each side is also individually controlled by its corresponding button while also coming on when the doors are opened, key turned, etc.

What did you do to mount them under your seats?

I did that to my old mountaineer. 11 separate blue LED locations. It was sweet!!!

Did you use a LED strip light or a single bulb?

These are all 194 wedge base bulbs with a 5 LED head. I used 194 solder contact bases. All the wiring I did myself, no kit. There are two bulbs under each seat as well as two under each side of the dash and two to replace the existing ones in the map lights. I got everything from superbrightleds.com. On the map light unit, once you pull it down from the ceiling you will see how the wires go from the car to the switches to the light. Between the switches and the lights is where I cut and tapped in for the power so the switches control the corresponding side. Then I went down each A pillar with the wires then from the front into the center console and down to under the seats so everything is hidden. Under the seats there are little metal plates that I mounted them to. If anyone in north carolina is interested you can stop by and i'll hook it up. Send me a PM.

Did you weld in diamond plate flooring, like your car is an 18-wheeler? Or are those some diamond plate floor mats? I can just see some guy here on AFM give his girlfriend a set of diamond plate floor mats for her Mustang for Christmas. Of course, she hears she will be getting "diamonds" for Christmas and then she isn't pleased when she sees the mats.

Sorry to disappoint Gary Paul, but they are not welded in, they are in fact floor mats. They were part of my christmas present from my wife. The LED's reflect nicely off of them tho.

Good to see that someone finally followed in my footsteps and went with an aftermarket interior lighting option.

Personally I went with blue LED's and white LED's so that I can swap back and forth between the two. White for function, blue for fashion.

I fed them with the 12v+ remote wire from my Alpine head unit so they're only on when the radio is on, which is a dummy rig so that I can't leave them on while the car is parked during the week (being that its my weekend mobile). I also added an on/off so that I can turn them off and still enjoy the radio.

My rig is a little different though. I used raw LED's (not bulb-style and without current limiting resistors) and added my own resistors. You'll find that if you clip the round end off the LED's that they produce more of a "glow" rather than your typical circular beam created by an LED. The same effect can be produced by filing down the round part until its flat.

Yea I have some LED's with resistors around the inside of my speaker box, so when I let the seats down and the bass kick they flash with the lower notes. Good ole high school electronics haha I knew that class would come in handy one day. Good tip about filing the bulb tho, never thought of that.
