Default Convertible Bars are worth it! See pic. Where can i find a Light Bar with no lights?

They say Convertible Light Bars are for show only but after seeing these photos a while back i was convinced that its a must for Verts. With the addition of a few go fast mods lately, i am feeling the need to get one installed more than ever.

I was at the last auto cross event of the season in my area and i saw some d00d flip his car over, granted he had slicks with stock suspension on a Mazda Speed 3 and it was a hard top, but it made the chances of Roll over appear much more realistic to me.

I decided i want to go with a bar that has NO brake light, it will make the installation easier as i do not have much wiring experience and electrical troubles are expensive.

From the handfull of vendors that make em, CDC seems to be of the highest quality but i am having a lot of trouble finding them without the 4th Brake light. I know some of the others offer one but they all look kinda cheap in pictures. If you guys have pictures you would like to share i would like to see em. Suggestions, i would like to hear em.

Ouch. Man that is expensive. That is kind of why I stick with the coupes.

Do we know if it stood up under the upside=downedness, or did it fold and pop back up?

I wouldn't depend on a "show" bar or "light" bar for rollover protection. Adding one might instill a false sense of security, and result in risky behavior. Go to autopower.com for a worthwhile installation.

That sounds like a trick question. Pretty sure you can't find a light bar with no lights. If it doesn't have lights, then it isn't a light bar, is it?

I hear ya FYouGitive, Im not looking for the false sense of security though. I am fully aware that a 2 point tubular steel bar covered in Vynl is not going to protect me from rolling over, its more of the "Better than Nothing" factor that makes me want one.

A "helmet" is not going to keep you from cracking your head open from a wipe out or accident but it may help minimize damage from the lighter impacts. its "Better than Nothing".

I was just looking at CDC's website. Clearly states '***Not intended rollover protection*** ' but I agree that it's better than nothing at all.

With or without a light, CDC still calls their product a "Classic Light Bar".
Possibly a light bar as in "not intended for roll-over protection" light.

They have it listed on their site for $429

FuzzyDice has a light bar on his car. I believe he felt it stiffened the car up some as well.

I am impresses that the light bar held up so well. I have one on my vert, but expected it to be for show. Now although I am impressed that it hel up so well, I o know they do a wonderful job at giving the vert a bit of rigidity. I know on the S197s, if you add a light bar it connect to a u frame, and once connected, makes an entire loop around the car. Makes up for the loss of the roof. I love mine and do not regret buying it at all.

How about something from here?

Mustang Roll Bars

Even the street one is probably better than a light bar.
