Ok first off i just got my Roush hood scoop in today and ive had the idea for a long time now that I was going to paint my hood scoop hot rod black (satin black) but so far i havnt found a single person around me that has agreed on my idea. As you can see the car is vista blue with 10 inch white racing stripes, for me painting the scoop vista blue and painting white stripes over it is not an opition, i never liked the idea. and im not to sure about leaving the scoop vista blue and putting it over the stripes...PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks

Yeah thats what i was thinking... I figured when you get a shaker hood scoop you dont have an option in color so im thinkin it would look good, oh and by the way i have painted mirror covers. lol

then i desided to go same color as my car.
then ford messed it up and got it to dark.
tried to tell me with out the car to paint chip they couldent get it dead on, even though they had the color code
i told that guy, he was full of it , and he said no really. i said ok how did the guy at the knock off shop up in dayon get it dead on never even seeing my car? and he just looked at me.
so my hood scoop is darker... once i put my 245 emblems on it, it actuly looked good!
if u have it painted black though...be ABSOLUTELY SURE there are no holes in it and its already pre sanded.
let me know how it turns out i bougt the cheaper scoop, but it ended up pretty good

The transformation has begun!
heres a idea, cut a gap in the stripe to just a little in frt of the scoop and in back. like maybe 1/4 to 3/4" or if the stripes are wider too, even better, gap the stripe around the sides too. then you could go any color black or blue would look good, and you can still have the stripes, it wouldnt look like a patch job, going over or under the stripe, and it would have a shaker effect somewhat.

I think painting it white might look good. Blue would look nice too. Im not sure about the black, it might be too much varience in color for your car. Doesn't the scoop come unpainted in a semiblack color? You could just sit it on there like that and see what you think. The one Im gonna get for my car is gonna be black...

Do the Roush scoops have screws with them on the install, or do they go on with the 3M tape only? I really like the idea of having a couple of screws in there or glassing it on to the hood.

The unpainted are gray primer

I striped my roush scoop to carry my stripes with the rest of them, where my stripe goes under the scoop I removed some of the stripe so it kinda looked like it went around and over the scoop, I'll try to show you some pics

Painting it flat black would be unique, but I am partial to the Vista Blue for the hood scoop, IMO
