okay... i was browsing through craigs list and i came upon a supercharger procharger for sale.. along with the supercharger he was selling a tuner and an innercooler all together... now... the guy wanted 2,000 for it. and i told him how about 1,500 and he said the lowest he will go is 1,800... there is 5,000 miles on it, and it runs beautifuly he said.... but my question is... should i go for it? i need feed backs like asap. because im purchasing this saturday... please let me know!
i heard that it will increase my horse power to 390... i already have a cold air intake on it and an x pype dual exhaust. so im hopeing that this supercharger will increase my cars performance by a lot.
prochargers have always been my favorite supercharger! You will notice a huge difference, but your Cold Air Intake (CAI) will be an extra part, as the procharger system should come complete with its own.
1800 sounds like a steal, the GT kits are around $5-6K, however 1800 plus you gotta figure a new set of tunes, possibly install and any missing parts or pieces that would need to be replaced.
it'll definitely up your horsepower by a lot and you will obviously see a noticeable difference. like Gt speeder said if it seems legit and nothings missing then take it especially if you think you'll be content with around 350-400hp ish if not wait and buy a big stroker engine
Sounds like a good deal, but if you don't know what to look for as far as defects go, bring someone along. Last thing you want is to spend 1800 on craigslist, pay more for extra parts or just spend the time putting it in....and have something go wrong. STUDY THE PARTS. Other than that, you will def. notice the difference.
Go for it but I dont know about making 350-400 hp without other mods. ask questions how much boost are you planning to get out of this setup? what model procharger is it? your gonna have to up grade your fuel system including injectors and regulator bigger maf and t/b upper and lower intake to even come close to that kind of hp procharger rates hp gains by percentage and other mods I have the p1sc that I installed to my stock 96 gt (at the time) went from 215 to 325 rwhp roughly a 60 % gain got to 435 rwhp with other mods

They're most likely is some missing pieces. However, at that price if the blower itself is good then it's not a bad price. You could also call Procharger and ask them what it would cost to freshen a blower (they'll do that for you). Also ask them what the cost for parts would be to complete a kit if you already had the blower.
If the kit is for a 6 cylinder S197 the price might be a steal (especially if most of the parts are there). If not it might not be quite as good a deal.
Just call ProCharger and find out what it would cost to freshen the blower and complete the kit. If the price is right take it.....if not walk.

plstang is correct. Depending on what is there or not there and depending on the condition of the blower itself it may or may not be such a great deal. With only 5K supposed miles everything should be good but if something was pulled through that shouldn't have been, say a nut or something, there can be damage on the inside. Make sure that at a minimum everything spins freely, no binding. Turn it upside down and look at the rotors, check for the obvious like heavy gouges in rotors are inside of case. Buyer beware, cause if it seems to good to be true it usually is.

That's right, 5,000 miles is a relative thing! What if it was somebody like me that owned it before? 5,000 miles one 1/4 mile at a time is A LOT of abuse to put on a blower!! LOL
Ok, odds are they weren't as bad as me...just trying to make a point!

The bottom line is a supercharged 4.0 is a nimble fighting machine. If this deal doesn't pan out for you then on down the line you should still consider going FI. You will be VERY happy.

I agree with Snackmaster on this one. Adding FI to a 4.6 V6 is very worthwhile. My son has the IC Procharger on his 2005 V6 (automatic) and it completely changed that car. It's very strong right from a dead stop, plenty of power even on the low end. I'm confident he could roast any stock or even mildly modified GT. It's been very reliable as well. He did learn early on to let it warm up before accelerating very agressively. Be a little gentle until at operating temperature or you get an appreciation for 'limp home' mode. Shutdown for just a minute, it clears on restart.
The other guys are right also, run your parts list to see what else you need to complete the kit. Even if the blower needs a refresh, it's still a pretty good price.
An S197 4.0 with a supercharger, upgraded brakes and maybe even moving the battery to the trunk would be quicker than most people would think. You might need to consider upgrading the shocks and springs to counter the extra weight up front but the power of the SC combined with the lighter course-ready chasis of the sixxer just makes a fabulous combination.
Keep us posted Lilmizmustang...

1800 for a procharger seems like a really good deal but why would someone only sella procharger that is around 5000 for a quarter of the price??? idk sounds fishy to me/ expeceially with only 5000 miles on it. did the guy sell his v6 i would ask him why he is selling it before really buying it. if he still owns a v6 and isn't planning on getting rid of it but is getting rid of the procharger he had something has to be fishy!!!

Seems like a great deal. I've had the pleasure of being whipped by a supercharged V6 S197 when my was stock. Heck, it could probably still do it! It's a silent killer.
yeah.. i asked him why he was selling it and it was because he sold his mustang and he couldnt sell it for what it was originally worth... so he cut down the price by A LOT... good thing i found him in time lol... i'll keep ya posted tomorrow when i go check it out... and i will be giving procharger a call =]
