I am in need of some information about a 05' V6 coupe. My wife and I owned one that seems to be very rare. It was fully loaded with every option, Sonic Blue in color w white racing stripes. The "rare" thing that has me boggled is that it had fender badges that read '289'. This car was her baby and a guy in a exscursion killed it. I have searched for 2 and a half years to find another. My questions are,, has anyone ever heard or seen one badged like this and does anyone know why it was badged that way? Also how about knowing where another one might be for sale? Color not too big a deal but, its gotta be loaded and have the badge. Please help a fellow member out. I am trying to make it a birthday suprize. Thank you in advance!
Very true! Does anyone one know of the 05's being badged this way and why though? I have to say that it was a very quick V6. After having a 98' GT I thought it would be slow. I had to tell my wife and her friends that I was wrong for ever thinking you should never get a pony unless it had a V8.
what you had was a premium v6. we have the same car, vista, white stripes. its loaded too, plus there are some options that can be ordered with the car new. someone put the 289 emblems on it. they havent made that motor since the 60`s. the v6 is a 4.0 and it does run pretty good, and even better if you add a few parts.

The badges were there from a performance ford dealer here in Indiana. The car was Sonic Blue w white stripes. Had leather int w MACH1000 system. The rims were the alloys w tri-bar spinners. We had found limited info awhile ago but now have had no luck. Even when parked next to another 05'V6 ours had a different stance and look. We never got to add anything before it was totaled. We will get another one to replace our loss. I was just curious if anyone knew if it may have been a limited edition or a performance package offered with the 05'.
Sounds like one of the many performance shop packages we see around here. Most likely a local shop did the work for the dealership. You might try contacting the dealership and asking them who they might have used?
Either way it's nothing you couldn't have done again!
It was not a special edition from Ford to my knowledge.

The dealer was the only shop that i know of that would have tweeked it. They are a performance dealer here in Indy. I tried asking them what was done to the car but they were no help. Thanks for the info that you have given me.
I've never heard of anything like that, but i'm sure you could replicate it. Take a look around the site through a few profiles and see if you can find the stance that it had, then PM the member and ask what kind of springs they're running.
Fully loaded v6's aren't all over the place, but aren't too tough to find either. Find one, throw some lowering springs, stripes and an axleback on it for a bit more 'go,' and turn it over to your lady. You can't go wrong.

Isn't the Cubic Inch of the Mustang GT engine a 281 and the v6 a 245? I really don't think your previous pony was a special edition, just a v6 that was either tricked out by the dealership or farmed by the dealership to a local tuner shop. There's a dealership near me (they have their own in-house tuner shop) that have so many "special edition" v6 (and v8) Mustangs that it would make your head spin. I even saw one once they called a SSP, Shelby Starter Pack, that consisted of nothing more than 18 - 20 Shelby wheels, Eibach Springs and rear decklid Cobra emblem and they wanted $5000 - $6000 over base MSRP for the ride. I was like whaaaaa...
Basically what your previous Mustang was, I think you could easily replicate, if not even make it better through your own vision and design.
