Default 2006 engine swap idea, possible?

I had a guy come in the shop this morning with a 01 V6 for sale. He bought it for a project car. Car runs and drives fine, its an auto. Here is the deal, he has an engine and tranny out of a wrecked 06 GT that is going with it. Is it even possible to jam out engine and tranny in there without breaking the bank? He is asking $5K for the whole setup. He says he wants a new Camaro. Loser.

I was even thinking of offering money for the engine. He is a smart guy, he has restored a gran torino, 70 something chevelle, and a is working on a 69 camaro for his wife.
The mustang was to be for his 15 yr. old, but they decided to go with something newer, and thats all I know.

It could be made to fit but there are other parts required.

I would think you would also need the computer, wiring harness, 8.8 rear, Engine mounts, exhaust. New takeoff.com has most of this stuff at a reasonable price. Lots of work... How much would the modified car be worth? Can you get it inspected in the state you live in?

Obviously, you'll need the computer, but the GT's typically had beefier suspensions to handle the extra weight and horsepower you're throwing around. Don't forget the ancillary items like the exhaust system, etc. as well.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

His name is Pat, and Pat says he has like 80% of the parts that one would need to do the work. I am sure he got most from salvage from the original vehicle, He has a complete list, I'll see if I can get it from him and scan it for yall to look at it. The 2001 was just inspected, 111,000 miles on it, and it has "cobra" rims, which means that someone loved that car at one time. I really need to see it though, it cant be in that good of shape for just $5k. I was thinking of buying the motor as replacement or back-up, but converting this 01 does sound like a great project.
