Just wondering where the "Drive normally on street" choice was... If you habitually race anywhere but the track you have no respect for yourself or for others.
I totally agree with Judi. Totally.
I have read stories about people using excessive speeds on the roads whether racing or not. And racing on the street is even dumber because now 2 cars are involved. And because of the testosterone challenge it motivates them to use even more speed.
In some of the stories I have read about, innocent people were severely injured or killed. Totally senseless. Someone loses their life just because a couple of Einstein's want to prove something.
I've had my share of incidents when a couple of racing idiots have cut me off on the interstate.
In my opinion, anyone who gets caught racing on a public road should lose their license for a minimum of 1 year on the spot.
And the number of people that are voting saying track and street or just street is really disturbing.
I autocross to get my racing jones. I do some spirited driving sometimes, but I do not race on the street.
+1 on the autocross fix!

Calm down FuzzyDice. You'd give yourself a heart attack, and somebody will end up buying your car and wreck it while street racing.
For somebody who is completely in control of himself, you sure are quite... hmmm... Fuzzy!
We got your point already. But you don't live in a perfect world. And not everybody is perfect like you. You make it sound like street racing is the only cause of accident and death on the road. Actually, aggressive drivers don't cause most of the accidents because they are aware of every car surrounding them. And "most" (again... "most") aggressive drivers who race on streets knows what their car can do. Not old grampa on a 911 Turbo down in Florida who forgot which was the gas and brake pedal. (Yep, I've read about that one.) I think it's cool when you see old couples on supercars.
I totalled my sportbike and snapped my forearm like a toothpick because of a teen driver who just got his license the past 2 weeks. He changed into my lane faster than a NY taxi cab in the middle of an intersection without looking. Was he racing? No! What did he do wrong? He knew he was making an illegal manuver without paying attention to his surroundings.
Go ahead and google TOP CAUSES OF AUTO ACCIDENTS. You won't find street racing there!!! You should get more mad about truck drivers who drive longer than they legally should and kills several families in several cars that he squished like a bug with his Semi. What about that text addicted teen or cellphone maniac who thinks he can multitask with his/her eyes and hands at 70mph? Oh what about drunk drivers who don't stop at red lights or stop signs? Or inexperienced drivers who think snow and rain has no effect on tire grip? I think these people should have their own roads built for them like... what was that word?... hmmm... ohhh... race tracks! We should have Semi tracks, teen tracks, tracks for people who needs to use their cellphones, drunk tracks, grandma tracks, and for you my friend, the perfect people track!
I "believe" people like you FuzzyDice had a bad experience, and you are just bitter at everybody else. (I'd love to be wrong on that one.) Just because you had made it to the perfect role model status, doesn't mean you can rag on people who hasn't made it there yet. I think you should use more honey than vinegar or your words or else it will just go over everybody else's head. You got good advice and good words to say, but if shove a piece of cake in somebody's mouth, they'll spit it back to your face.

Sorry theshark25... FuzzyDice thinks you should lose your license for 1 year on the spot for those moments when you can't wait for track day.

You know what's wrong with street racing? I'll bet Rapids Street in Adel, Iowa could beat Lazy Lane in Houston, Texas if we could get them to race. But they're both just roadways, so they just lie there and let people walk (and drive) all over them.

Jeesh fuzzy, you seem to be making people heated recently, always liked you fuzzy but i think gtronn might have a point in this discussion.
As for street racers losing their license for a year.... drunk drivers dont even lose their license on the first offense (usually) and second time drunk drivers sometimes only lose it for 6 months or have a work or school permit
I dunno about you but id rather have some fast cars coming down the road i can avoid instead of a drunk that cant stop at a redlight because hes balcking out, or someone texting on their lap not paying attention to the ambulance crossing the intersection.

Please.....knock off the lame arguments about other things that kill people on the roads as well. All of them should come with harsh penalites not just street racing. Drunk driving should come with harsher penalites than street racing so if I think street racers should lose their licenses for a year on the spot then drunk drivers should be dealt with even more harshly.
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
It's actually a good thing that street racing is way down on the list of causing accidents because that shows that most people "get it" and only a handful of idiots will race on public highways.
And let's not forget this....just like DWI street racing is ILLEGAL. But I could care less about the legality. We are all smart people here, for the most part, and we all know that driving down a public highway at excessive speeds in some macho mating dance is not too bright a thing to do.
If it were 100% certain that the only person you would be putting in danger is yourself, then go to town. My concern is with the other innocent drivers on the road that just happen to "get in the way" of a couple of morons trying to one up each other.
But let me amend this in one way.....I am mostly talking about the jerks that will pull this stuff on an interstate that has other traffic on it at the same time. I am not talking about some long strip of desolate highway in the middle of Nebraska at 2 am in the morning. I do assume that most on here are smart enough to not participate in this crap when there are several other cars on the same road.
As for GTRonn.....he had a post that he claimed he had to quickly slow up when he was catching up with an SUV. Maybe I am mistaken but that certainly sounds like the road had other traffic on it.....just call me silly.
I'll just hope that you don't kill someone one of these days.
Can't we all just get along.
I know three Houston cops, and one trooper, and hell, they even street race if they feel like flexing. One even has blue lights in his 02 z06, but they don't condone it either. They know when its safe and when its not.
I asked one his opinion, and I quote, "Jeff, your 40 yrs. old, I know you race but what do you do when you see it on the streets?" Jeff Said. "I pull them over and tell them that by law, its a $500 dollar fine and 8 points on your license. If they have a clean car and its sound and they are a little mature about it, I let them go. Maybe even tell them nice race. However, whenever I get some dumb jerk kid, I write him up!" End quote.
They and I believe that racing is for the track, but its pointless to own a muscle car, that can't show its muscle. I don't race everyday, or even once a week, but with my job I am sometimes flying down the road in an overloaded half ton truck that didn't stop well to begin with. I don't like it, but I get in deep $h!# if I don't. I am uncomfortable doing it, and if I am really overloaded I just take the punishment from the customer and/or my boss. I am very dangerous when I have 10,000 lbs in the truck, at any speed.
Furthurmore, GTRonn, quit provoking Fuzzy, he is a great guy and probably has the best reason you ever heard of to feel the way he does. Fuzzy, we know how you feel, and you have made your point. Lets not turn this into a UFC match.

It is what it is, and to each his own.
Fuzzy, if you think I was joking, I was not. I was really glad that you weren't as furious on your last post. I don't know how many times I've said already that I do not promote or condone street racing. I don't even do it myself. One of my last posts says that I am more of a player than a racer. I just play a little bit here and there, but no serious crazy insane racing. I am even very cautious when I play. I don't even do the honk 1, 2, 3 then go. Rice05eater, I am exactly like you, and so are the cops here. They know the law. We know the law. But we tolerate a little bit of fun as long as it's within a mature level of taking risks. Some people are just way to extreme and just refuse to get it.
Okay, what if everybody that drives faster than the speed limit, that forgets use their turn signal, that stopped beyond the white line, that crosses a double line, that changed two lanes simultaneously, that blows a red light, that tailgates, that uses their cellphones, that hits the rumble strip gets pulled over EVERY STINKING TIME!!! Can you say you still live in the USA? Sound more like communist China! By the way, everyone of those can cause an accident just as aggressive driving can.

If you said that originally i dont think anyone would have argued with you, i agree with everything you have said now

You missed one important part -- it wasn't me who did it!
If you read original post, it was the Z06 who started it. My friend and I were just cruising. The Z06 just had to throttle up because he probably thought mine was just plain vanilla stock.
It was probably a 5 second playing around more than a real race that maxed out somewhere in the 70mph range. We were nowhere close to endangering the SUV.
FOR THE LAST TIME, I CORRECT MYSELF, IT WAS JUST FOOLING AROUND. IT WAS NOT A REAL RACE. I just learned the difference here at AFM recently.
