Default Mustang Rims: 20 inch Razors?

Ok, so im in quite a bit of a pickle, i guess im trying to fund out if i should buy the 20 inch Razor rims or go to an 18 inch rim? Are 20's heavy to the point where they will rob my performance and acceleraion?

And also can you get a staggered in these rims? i can only find 24mm and 40mm but i dont know if that will give me a staggered look. Will it?

And one last question, if i do decide to get the 20 inch razor rims, and i want to lower the car, what is the best lowering kit(springs, schocks, etc.) that i could get to really make the car look good?

Thanks for the replies!

Hi, i have the 20" razor wheels on my car they look great the +40 offset is the one to go for ,they come right out to the wheel arch,if you put 24 offset on the back they will stick out to far the higher the offset the less the wheel sticks out ,and even at +40 it will still throw dirt up alongside the car ,hope this is some help to you

20" vs. 18" wheels....good question....the material I have read don't recommend 20" for a daily driver.....I replaced 16" with 18" on my 96, I love the looks, but the ride is a little rougher, but I also lowered it with Eibachs and replace the rear lower control arms with the BBK lower control arms...acceleration is better .... but the ride quality suffered...but I'm an old guy....any bump will be felt. I lowered my '07 with the BMR lowering springs....the front dropped about 1" to 1 1/4" and dropped the rear 1.5 inches. I added the BMR panard bar to center the chassis(a must have), the ride quality is near stock, but stiffer, the stance is awesome, I have stock 18" wheels and tires. The 20 " rims look awesome on the new pony, maybe some of the guys with 20's on their cars can give you better advice

If you are concerned about performance 20" rims is not the way to go. If you dont car about the added weight and poor traction then it is irrelevant.

So, Ricesmoker, i get that the 20's will hurt performance, but is there a huge notice? And does it really hurt the traction, i thought a wider tire would help improve the traction, im just confused

Technically... Not EXTREMELY. You have a theoretically higher top speed with larger rims...

But the main thing is ride comfort on stock suspension goes down a BUNCH.

I don't know what to say on the traction... Because yes, a wider wheel will give you better traction.

I'm going with 18s!

I have 20 inch rims and have fantastic traction and notice very little in ride difference. I called tire rack and discount tire and both said there is very little , if any performance change. That's what the pros said.

The reason most s-197 owners use the Razor in a 24mm offset is a larger brake install just to clear the bigger calipers.

Ok Awesome, because naturally i am just fan of 20's, dont know why. With the Razors, is there any way to get to where the rims are staggered?

Love my wheels. Just put mine on 3 days ago. You will not be dissatisfied with the wheels. Get a +40mm offset. You will not lose ride quality so dont worry. You will lose time at drag strip but cant notice it when you are driving through town or anything. Put 255/35/20 tires on the wheels for best look. As far as lowering springs go Eibach Pro kit will be the best. You cant get the wheels staggered by the way but if you want to spend the extra money you could possibly find a shop that can widen the wheels to your desired width. Hopefully this will help you with your decision. LOVE MY WHEELS!!!!

I also have the 20in razors, love them to death, they look really sick with a lowered car (I went with the Eibach lowering kit btw) 255/35/20 kumho tires all around. The performance difference isn't noticable (least thats what I thought when I went N/I), I thought I could get more grip (since the tires were wider then stock) but the ride is quite a bit more rough. Although since I went F/I I am noticing I'm having a hard time catching grip with my tires...might have to go with a wider set.

I have the 20 inch razors 20x9 w/255/35's all chrome and ford racing 1.5 drop and it is perfect.I wouldnt go any lower. As far as the ride goes, its not a daily driver but when I do drive it I dont make a habit of running over bumps or potholes so I wouldnt really worry bout the ride that much unless you are one who gets in and goes, not paying attention to whats in front of you.Go for ithe 20's they look great on the s197's.You wont regret it.Take a look at my gallery.
Good luck with whatever you chose.

Thats exactly what i want to do with my car, but with it being lowered do you ever drag, like bottome out. Or does the front rub when you turn? Also are those 40mm or 24mm?
