mmm.. your right but its just bad habit on 2 hills around where i live. They are not drastic hills but they are long (2~3 miles) with OD on i tend to pick up speed alot faster then i like hence why i swap OD off before i hit the hills.

i live right next to cal state fullerton, so there are alot of cars with exhaust CAI etc and i have not once seen a cop inspecting an engine. so if worst comes to worse swap out, pass, swap back on.
The Steeda/Ford Racing intake is CARB approved. It even comes with a CARB decal that you place on the intake (at least mine did, says CARB Exempt or something, I can't remember). I live in VA, but I stuck it on anyway.

I noticed you live in CA, how do you plan on getting past CARB regulations with the Bama tune? They used to do roadside spot checks on cars a couple years ago around Orange here (CHP was involved, the whole works), don’t know if they’re still doing them with the state’s budget problems.
They do it because sometimes the situation would cause the tranny to be hunting through gears constantly. Like in slightly hilly terrain or with a fully loaded/overloaded car. Can cause premature tranny failure in the long run.

Staying out of overdrive will keep the TQ unlocked (unless your tunned) so acceleration is easier to start with, not to mention your in a lower gear. It will hurt your milage quite a bit.
